My guy came home. I had my garage door open enough where if he came back to food and water on the porch and a have a heart trap I might catch him nope. He ate and would wander off so he must have gone in the garage just before yesterday's severe thunderstorm. I was out searching after work for him and when I had come home for dinner I opened the garage and he came out meowing and ran right over to me.

So relieved!!

OCD Psycho Dog has separation anxiety whenever someone leaves home. The way that we've dealt with it for 13 years is to give him a treat as we are walking out the door, which distracts him as we leave.

Yesterday morning, his stomach was a little bit off, and he didn't even touch his breakfast. My DW left me a small Milk Bone by the door for my escape, since she left before me. He turned his nose up at it when I offered the treat, so I tossed it in his fawg dood bowl and told him it was there when he felt better.

When I came in the door from work in the afternoon, he had picked the Milk Bone out of his fawg dood bowl at some point during the day and placed it in front of my recliner (where I always give him his morning bribe). He came running over to the treat, picked it up, and made me watch him eat it while I took my shoes off.

FWIW, he never gets excited when I come home. Most days, I have to step over him because he is flopped in front of the door blocking my path.....

My dog Mac passed away overnight on the Saturday / Sunday. That sucked. We were going to give him at home euthanasia on the Monday anyways because he went downhill really fast on the weekend, but I didn't expect him to die overnight.

Honestly, that was pretty hard seeing him there and then also harder than I thought leaving him at the place where he gets transported to the crematorium. He really was an amazing dog though, going to miss him a lot.

In a few months we'll likely get another dog...right now we are just taking some time.

Here are a couple of pictures of my little female Shih Tzu, "Porsche" at C&C and exhausted returning home. As I told someone last week when I took my wife's M2 to C&C, "I brought a Porsche but drove a BMW".

My wife could call our first cat from the far ends of wherever she was hiding by faking the sound of a reddi whip can.

That's what I thought too. Never knew cats liked it and I've had cats all my life. Guess I've been depriving them. lol

It's dairy, cats love dairy. My little girl (twins, the one on the left, we lost her last year) she LOVED bacon.. it was like crack. Any time wifey would make bacon she would wail until she got some.

My cat loves the smell of bacon but any time we gave her some (cut in small bites) she would just sniff it and walk away.

Dairy is not supposed to be good for cats even though some cats like it.

For those who remember that we lost our beloved cat a while ago, we have completed the application for a kitten rescue outfit -- hoping to get two *indoor only* cats when we get to the top of the list. (I'm glad I talked my wife into the indoor only aspect -- too many dangers out there.)

This organization that finds homes for kittens charges $350 per animal but what that covers is a weaned, litterbox-trained, neutered young cat.

Good move Larry...As I've posted before, my wife does the hard work getting rescued kittens ready for adoption. She's currently dealing with a litter of 5 cuties (mother is as ferral as they come) who will be turned over to the rescue for the process.

So..... my friend just got back from Hong Kong and she brought one of her cats back a hat.

I'm not..... entirely sure he appreciated the sentiment!

A RoboKitty update:

It's been a while since Max damaged/tore/shredded his Achilles tendon, and recovery continues.

He just had his second treatment of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and he's continuing to get Shockwave treatments every two weeks.

The vet is seeing some improvement and that's a good sign. Surgery isn't really an option as (in the Vet's words) the tendon looks like a frayed rope under ultrasound and there's nothing to repair or surgically attach it to.

Part of the problem is that he's been on a long-term steroid for an intestinal issue. That solved that problem (and kept him alive), but created other problems in that it weakened and shredded the tendon. We were able to find one.... ONE.... pharmacy in Denver that would compound his steroid to a lower dose, so that (and a change to more easily absorbed food) seems to be keeping the intestinal issues at bay and allowing his tendon to slooooowly heal.

The Specialty Vet has literally said he's "the best cat ever" under her breath while she's working with him-- he's *completely* mellow and chill with her manipulating his leg all over the place and doing Shockwave treatments.

He's more or less adapted/resigned himself to the boot now, so he's got free range of the house-- but since the hard bottom of the boot hits the hardwood floors, he sounds like a peg-legged pirate when he wanders around. We've been calling him "Captain ThumpyPaw". He's figured out how to make the boot thump louder when he wants something, so now when he feels it's time for food, he thumps up and down the stairs repeatedly to get our attention. It would be funnier if he didn't do it at four in the morning, but he IS a cat.

So, overall-- things are going as well as they can at the moment.

R.

This is definitely good news, Llarry. $350 per animal is not unreasonable. Curious, how did to talk your wife in to it? Did you bribe her? LOL

Please post up pics when your new family members arrive.

No bribe needed, Esteban: Logic won out.

Will do on the pics.
