Found a cache of pics from our trip out west 7 years ago. All taken with a 5MP Sony Cybershot. This camera always exaggerated the greens to a bright lime color, but with the magic of PS, the pics can be made to look half respectable. This is Zion NP.

Just wanted to share a moon picture I took last night at 3am on Grizzly Peak Blvd in Berkeley. Couldn't see any of the Perseid meteor shower because the moon was so bright, and probably also because my eyes suck :P

how long was your exposure to catch the bolt? I haven't really attempted lightning yet.

To be honest this was a pretty long exposure...like 6 min. I think....probably the reason my battery was dead for half of my trip....LOL....and the reason that the cloud is overblown...but I still loved the shot so I kept it.

did you get a lot of noise on the original from the long exposure? I've heard that you can pretty much only do about 5min max on a lot of the cameras before the sensor gets too hot and starts making a lot of noise.

I'm surprised you didn't get any other lightning strikes in that time!

It's a sweet shot, hope to see more like it

Actually I didn't do any noise reduction on that shot during PP. There were a few "hot-spots" on the sensor that are outside the area of the 100% crop...4 hot-spots that I could see in the original un-cropped photo.

BTW there were other lightning strikes...all in the overblown area of the cloud...that is why it is overblown

They overlapped each other in that area creating the visual you see.......
