Pretty good juice. Extremely complex - getting tobacco, peanut butter, chocolate in addition to the traditional honey and caramel notes. Very hot though. I do love high proof, but this came out a little rough for me. Not as smooth as ECBP which is a higher proof... Could be the bottle I got. Still would recommend a try!

Store selects are fairly common thing for most liquors. I would say that I have had one or two that were not as good as the normal stuff, but a very vast majority of them are much better than what you normally get, especially if the store you get it from has a good whiskey taster.

One of my favorite "daily drinker" bottles. Surprisingly smooth for 125 proof. It's around $60 here locally, when you can find it.

Gotcha, I’ve been buying mostly overseas and they don’t offer that over there/where I lived or on Amazon.de. It looks like we are making the trade so he’ll have to let us know if it was a good selection or not.

I am going to have to disagree with you there. Very overrated for sure. Possibly worth the ~$200 it costs retail, but I was not super impressed.

I agree that it's overrated...but in terms of mystique, it's unbelievable to me how much money it commands in the market. @ 84000 bottles are distributed yearly, yet finding it is tough...for the price, you'd think it would sit on the liquor store shelf collecting dust, yet it doesn't...hence the Holy Grail comment
To me it depends on the age...the 20 year is the best of them...

I was in Kentucky doing the Bourbon trail (been a few times) and we did tastings of the 12, 18 and 23....they were ok but for less money I'd drink the Jim Beam Distillers Select. I'd have to agree that they are over rated.

The "best one" changes from year to year based on the popular opinion. I was thinking that the consensus was the 12 lot b was the best offering this year. Also heard that the WLW was better than any of the Pappy offerings for 2019. I have not tried any of the 2019 except for the TH Handy I won in a drawing so this is all based on just reading other people's opinions.

My disappointment isn't just Pappy either. I have been pretty disappointed in quite a few of the hard to find bottles I have tried. Really has pushed me to really insist on trying something before buying it. Thankfully some of the people in my local whiskey club are well connected so I have the opportunity to try quite a few things.

Agree. I found my way into 2 bottles. Gave one to my boss with a gun (told him he could either shoot the employees or drink the Pappy but not both). I drank the other bottle with friends and found it yucky. Not my style. My friend drank it mixed with Diet Coke
