I didn't know anyone actually hated Ferrari

I haven't liked some of their drivers but the team hasn't done anything since 2007-2008ish

I heard Ferrari was secretly trying to copy the RB20's front suspension...
Maybe that was the case in Canada , but it backfired and made the car slower .

It was really strange that Charlie's PU failed , but Ferrari is coming to Spain with upgrades .
Hopefully Charlie can beat the Merc's in Spain !

With the RB 20 mis-match in correlation with the suspension no wonder Ferrari, if they tried to copy, went bad twice as worse, in a way Ferrari led themselves up the garden path.

That watch brand Hamilton has been around and making watches since 1892! Well over 100 years.
What kind of a person does that? Isn't that the ultimate sign of utter megalomania?

Imagine Max Verstappen sueing Pepsi Max because his name is also Max....
That would be considered totally bonkers, but Lewis did it anyways.
Why he did that is beyond me. Apparently he wasn't concerned with the damage that does this to his personal name, becoming the personification of a joke.

Needless to say Hammy lost in the european court. They were of the opinion that a 100+ year old company was allowed to use their name as trademark and that someone who was born in 1985 can't forebid that.
To help others this isn’t what happened I believe. For example at no point did he sue anyone. What’s happened was an IP trademark that was register by a company working on behalf of LH and his image rights was challenged by Hamilton the watch makers. They the image rights company then challenged the IP Trademark that had been agreed with the EUIPO on the basis of his Fame after the prior IP was cancelled. Short story they didn’t agree and then the trademark around watches and the name Hamilton he doesn’t own.

He hasn’t sued Hamilton Swiss watches at all they both just argued about what trademarks had been lodged, very very different.

Im not really sure why, started watching F1 in early 2000’s. I guess seeing them win all the time kinda made me bored of them ahaha don’t like Merc for same I think.

The sort of cult status the team has as well it’s a little obnoxious to me. Not a huge fan of the road cars either.

You're referring to R 336/2022-1, but I was specifically referring to R 351/2020-4

These cases are intertwined, but R336 basically is Lewis (well....his company IP44) is filing the trademark lewis hamilton in watches and related goods, which the Hamilton watch company appealed to (and won), and R351 is the Hamilton watch company registring their tradename Hamilton in class 14&35 (to extend their business/services in similar trades, like repairing watches instead of selling watches, that kind of thing). Note that the registration date of Hamilton (from the Hamilton watch co.) in these classes was on an earlier date than Lewis' date of registring lewis hamilton in these classes.
R351 is referenced in R336 as an argument from EUIPO as an already won case by the Hamilton watch company.

And whether or not it's sueing...EUIPO is the place where these things take place. Potato Potato....

Why Lewis disputed the tradename Hamilton in class 9 and 14 is beyond me. Somehow I have the feeling that there's more to it:
One of Lewis' big private sponsors is the watch brand IWC Schafferhousen. IWC is owned by the Richemont group (that also owns Cartier, Piaget, Panerai, MontBlanc, Vacheron Constantin, Länge&Söhne). A big player.
The Hamilton watch co is owned by Swatch Group (Omega, Blancpain, Longines, Breguet, Tissot etc). Another big player.
Did Richemont see this as an oppertunity to just bully Swatch Group in the EUIPO court, using Lewis as their pawn?

Anyway, Lewis lost both these cases, I mean... disputing a company that has been making watches for well over 100 years on their name....
You just don't hear these sort of reports from other drivers. Thats why I think Hammy is crazy. It has nothing to do with his performance on the track.

Agree but this is almost certainly this other company or some IP lawyers giving him bad advice I expect, there response was also out of the norm on how it 'could' have been handled as well.

Who knows only him and them I suspect.

So MB DID give hammy the Bottas treatment

Somebody "Forgot" to plug in his tire warmers

"In qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton attributed his P7 grid slot to underheated tyres, citing issues with the Mercedes tyre blankets."

Maybe, but the fact of the matter is of course that IP44 does nothing without Hammy telling them to.

And you never hear a story like this from other drivers, not even the very succesful ones.
I mean, there are lots of companies called Schumacher, but I never heard stories about Michael Schumacher going into a legal battle with one of them that has been around for a century or so disputing their trademark/name.
Or Max Verstappen sueing Pepsi Max...

Hammy links his name to such a strange and obviously stupid legal course of action so that says to me that he's crazy.
A sane person worth half a billion would think twice imo. (although having that kind of money often makes people go crazy...lots of examples out there)

MORE "Bottas'n by MB surfacing

Between a crisis of results and suspicions of sabotage Mercedes: which Hamilton arrives at Ferrari?
- Lewis Hamilton commented, "It was one of my worst races ever," expressing disappointment after finishing fourth in Canada behind teammate George Russell.
- Hamilton's recent performance shows a significant decline, with him finishing behind Russell consistently throughout the 2024 season.
- In qualifying, Russell has outperformed Hamilton with a noticeable margin, indicating a shift in Mercedes' reference driver.
- Regarding the controversy over the tire choice during the race, Hamilton stated, "Every time I came out of the pits, for some reason the tires were always under temperature. Each set was 2 or 3 degrees lower than it should have been."
"If I had known that they would have mounted the Hards, I would have stayed out," referring to the tire strategy during the race.
- Social media speculation arose when Hamilton's second-place trophy for 2024 was initially forgotten in Mercedes' posts, fueling conspiracy theories about favoritism.
- Hamilton's frustration with the team was evident when he said, "I can't wait to go home," highlighting possible tensions between him and Mercedes.
- A radio communication between Hamilton and his track engineer, Peter Bonnington, during the race revealed Hamilton's frustration: "You didn't clean my mirrors again! I can't see anything," to which Bonnington responded, "I'm sorry Lewis, but you have the pace of the cars behind you, so let's look ahead."
- Speculation about Hamilton's potential move to Ferrari adds to the uncertainty surrounding his future in F1, questioning whether a change of team will revitalize the 39-year-old champion.
