No.

Multiple factors. For one, I don't have the ability to remain calm when a child is hurt by an adult. Let's just say I'd be going to jail and they'd be going to morgue.

Mucho respect for all officers.
This one is the toughest type of situation to endure, especially for those who have children of their own.

Can't even begin to imagine.

Plus I don't think they make a uniform that goes well with stilettos.

Ha. I'd need a complete overhaul of the dress code policy. Even the parking enforcement in NOLA needs a summer uniform. Poor girl I saw on Loyola looked like she was going to melt in the 100+ heat index.

I've said many times that being a cop or nurse are probably the only two jobs that I could never do, and I thank both for choosing their careers at every opportunity.

Here in NY State, I can only imagine the morale-buster of catch-and-release with no cash bail. One of today's news articles was a guy being caught for stealing a 2018 Mercedes, ROR, and being brought in two days later for stealing a Honda Accord...and ROR again. A few days ago, there was a guy who did over $7K in "remodeling" on a parked small town police car, also ROR.

I posted about a neighboring county running a campaign to get candidates to sign up for their police cover service exam. They are now also having sheriff deputies tutor potential candidates to assist them with passing the test...apparently on the clock.....

This is off Google, but you get the idea. It's the same uniform, long sleeves and pants, and all that gear to lug around. Probably doesn't have the technology that wicks away sweat, is light weight, etc. I'm sure your police uniform is similar, right? Should not be wearing that in the summer time in New Orleans. Heat stroke written all over it. When you don't feel well, you don't preform your job well.

#defundthepolice right? Make 'em miserable. Just not right. Invest in people who protect you. Police should be wearing the very best IMO.

If you've ever seen an episode of "Parking Wars" on TV, you wouldn't be doing that job without a full kevlar package under the uniform. People are crazy when you're ticketing/towing their cars!!!!!

That seems to be the state of affairs here too. Legalize nearly everything and/or diminish penalties so much that criminals don't even fear jail time.

I agree. Uniform choice(s) are critical. We wear tactical uniforms now; sometimes with an outer vest depending on assignment/station. So much better in terms of comfort.

Never. I just think it's an impossible job, and I'm not cut from the same cloth from that those step up to do it.

I'm a military officer so we tend to run in a lot of the same circles (police/military/fire). Lots in common, but lots of differences too. Respect all around though

Which differences might you be referring to? I'm asking having never served in the military.

For the sake of argument, let's presume you agree with statute.

Military doesn't commonly have interaction with the American public like police & fire do. We tend to operator in our own little bubble inside of the installation while police seem to be well engrained into the community (at least most of the places I've been). Makes sense though when you consider I move every 2-3 years and most cops spend a career in the same state or even same department

Can you see how many times someone has been pulled over? Even if they were never issued a warning or ticket.

No. That information doesn't show up in our system. While there is record of every time your plate or identification was run, it's not compiled in any way for us to access that.
