Great post and replies. I have 17 years on as a LEO in Maryland. My agency has quotas but calls them performance objectives. If I have to go to the bathroom (code brown) I do the old siren honk and light flash and go safely through the intersection. I don't hassle the good people with tickets...90 percent warnings. I just want everyone to get to their destination in one piece.

So that's the first time I had heard of pending charges of domestic violence simply because of the relationship of the two parties.

Blame O.J. Simpson. Because of him, somebody goes to jail in a domestic violence situation.

In California we use either 243(e)(1) P.C. or 273.5 P.C to attribute to domestic violence arrests.

P.S. Is anybody [in SoCal] free next Wednesday from 1430-1930? We need participants for a DUI wet lab.

P.S. California's Governor is about to make all hallucinogens legal. This state is going to be even more fucked up than Oregon.

Thanks everybody!

We have the wet lab test next Wednesday and the final next Friday. Once those two are successfully passed, I move on to a week of field certifications. Once those are complete I will be stamped a D.R.E. After my first court testimony as a D.R.E. (…and being classified an expert by the magistrate), I can then call myself an expert and every successive testimony.
