Lando was around 85 points behind before today.
With 12 races to go, that's a possibe to overcome gap.
Now they missed 7 points in that (so the gap could've been 69 points, instead it's now 76 points). With that attitude.....are you still gonna win?
Winning a championship revolves around scoring maximum when your main competitor is down (and this was a very bad day for Max/RB).
We'll see at the end of the year how costly this mistake was.
"to cover Hamilton" who was like 10s behind lol Ferrari plan F that one

don't worry at the end of the year McLaren would have bled so many points for Norris they won't even know where they've lost them

Always love Peter’s post race analysis.

I agree with him completely on the McLaren debacle. And also redbull screwing Max with getting him undercut twice.

That won't change mate . As you know , MAX is born at the track ...
Don't think so , MAX won a lot of races like this .
It's just the pressure , the RB20 lost all the dominance .
Looks like the RB20 is the 3rd fatest car at the track .
Both are called by the stewards after the race .

MAX : He (LEW) was moving to the right under braking , he closed the door with his elbows wide.
While I drove past him , I saw he was coming even closer to me on the inside .
I couldn't go anywhere . That's why I locked up .

LEW : I saw MAX coming from far , he can brake later than me and touched my wheel .
I was just a racing incident (!)

Happy for Oscar, even if it was a gift from Lando.

I'm just glad Formula 1 is must-see TV again. For a race with not much passing, that sure was tense...

Not true, or at least very premature. The MCL38 is neck-and-neck with the RB20 now, for sure. Neither Mercedes-AMG nor Ferrari are close except in very favorable conditions. I will say: the RB20 doesn't want to turn in the slow speed anymore. You could see the front end just ... fade away on Max a few times, and even when they added more front wing or ridiculous rear brake bias, it still didn't turn.

Will he was ahead so he was going to win anyway all going as normal in the 3rd tire stint, but yes this makes it look terrible.

I thought McLaren engineered a Norris win but then changed their mind. No way they were covering Hamilton unless they were Ferrari.

It's not so easy when you're in front. The guy behind can decide when to undercut and there's nothing the guy in front can do. That's why Hamilton had to stay out in Abu Dhabi.

While it may appear RB allowed Max to be undercut, in reality it's not straightforward.

Just like you ; I'm happy for Oscar . He really deserved the victory
Today Oscar was the best driver in the best car of the grid ...

Well , actually that's old news about the RB20 . Since the beginning of this season , the RB20 setup is a mess...
The car is built too stiff , it can't run over the curbs and it can't turn ..
Just see Checo's mess to keep his RB20 on track . I'm pretty sure , Checo will crash again with this car (!)

The main reason is the RB20 front suspension and the setup issues from race 1 in this season .
At this moment they can't change it too much , because the car would be complete out of balance ...
As you could see today , the RB20 upgrades didn't fixed the issues..And that's bad news !

I might start watching F1 racing regularly again. For a while F1 racing got so boring that I stopped following it completely.

Another fantastic race, I continue to be flabbergasted by how much this season has turned around since the first few races. Seven (SEVEN) different race winners so far this year and we haven't even hit the midpoint, how is this F1? For decades it was always 1 or 2 drivers, maybe a 3rd would win if some weather catastrophe happened, but SEVEN?

I just cannot believe how much it has turned around since the start of the year, but SO happy it happened!

Thought Max had matured more than today, he was back to driving out of control again and is extremely lucky to have finished 5th and not a DNF. I think he’s going to be fairly embarrassed about things he said today after he gets some proper rest. He threw everyone under the bus today and complaining about drivers doing what he does regularly (moving under braking/forcing people off track) was pretty rich.

I still don’t think his 4th WDC is in serious jeopardy unless he completely unravels. Lando isn’t going to win out or even podium out for the rest of the year and I’m sure Max/RB aren’t done winning this year.

Love how calm and cool Oscar is, it is going to serve him extremely well throughout his career. Going to be fun to watch.

That's how he's told to have always been throughout his race career: collected.

McLaren is allowing both Norris and Piastri a place under the sun.

Bad call from McLaren. I understand the scenario/situation but when you can potentially be contention for a drivers championship and with VER leading, you have to take the points. You can always get a win later on but you can't get back points you give up. As a constructors, McLaren gained max points - NOR missed out on crucial points in trying to catch up to VER. PIA is shown that he has the potential to be a Grand Prix winner and his time will come - don't think it should have been "given" to him today.
