Lifting because of tyre degradation management or fuel management? Hell yeah but not because of an impending puncture. If they knew the tyre would blow up they would have retired the car but of course they had no clue.

Having a ~5 sec lead gives you some room for error.
No race leader lets that 5sec gap diminish to 1sec on purpose.

You can't really fault RB on this. Before Verstappen's crash. They were aiming for a 1-2, not a 1-3. Street circuit is where RB get the most pts out of Mercedes.The deltas between 1-2 was 4.5s and 2-3 was 1.3s at the time of crash

If Verstappen's was slowing down to 2-3s delta to 2nd. Perez will be backed into Hamilton DRS zone. At the time, Mercedes was only slower in Sector 2; corner 7-10. Not the 90 degree corners, not the straightaway.

The 2nd question is just bc Stroll's tire blew up. Can you assume it's gonna blow up for everyone? No. Aston Martin doesn't talk to RB or know why it failed. Even now Pirelli is still trying to find out the cause. No other drivers were compensating bc of Stroll's tire.

There was no visual the RB car drove over any debris, there is no deflation or extra-wear(u would hear it on the radio). So RB felt they were in control of the situation and drive as usual. Verstappen sometimes disobey team orders, in that moment there is no reason to.

The number 2 seat for any second place team will always be a tough seat to get/keep no matter the team or rhetoric that goes with it.

Pick your poison: (i) get the opportunity to drive and lose it (albon and gasly) or (ii) stare at that carrot dangled in front of your nose and never get the opportunity (Russell and Ocon).

Different methods, different levels of finesse but equally as effective.

I enjoy both for different reasons, Max’s (RBR) rawness vs hammy’s (Mercs) calculating methods. Both are effective.

Hammy was emotionally distressed after the race, maybe waiting for the tears to stop. No shame in seeing some real unscripted emotion from the champ.

Even if Max had backed off a little it would not have made a difference as the tyre would blow at top speed anyway (if not that lap then the next) and Sergio would be backed into Hammy DRS risk.

Take it easy MK6. You are a knowleadgeable member of this forum but for once we just don't agree. No big deal.

If you can recollect some of my previous post before, I am definitely no RB/Max fanboi. I am only a fanboi when it comes to football. To me F1 is like a brotherhood where every single driver deserves respect for his skills and for putting his ass on the line.
And I love the great rivalries so it's great to have Lewis, Max and hopefully Charly and Lando fighting for the win. I appreciate all four of them.
