I think playing the health angle on it could be a good one as well. Is she gaining weight just because she's eating junk and not exercising? If so, he could tell her that he cares about her and doesn't want to see her harm her body like that.

What's causing it? I mean it actually isn't the dream of ours to get married and be fat. It's more usually the female dropping out of work and still eating as she used to. I'd take over the grocery shopping.

Ive been married for about ten years, my weight have gone up to 80kg (1kg per day for sixteen days of bloating in the last days of pregnancy) to 49kg ( I lose about 15kg in the first weeks, then my muscles take back the liquids and I look absolutely ridiculous all the way down).

Since I don't shop, I cant put on extra weight. Your friend might want to tell the wife they are on a tight budget.
