Yup - it's part of the membership agreement. You don't have the same obligation to a store open to the public. Sams/Costco are technically private.

An old friend of my worked Loss Prevention about 10 years ago... Not allowed to physically touch anyone regardless of how positive they were that the person was stealing.

Now places like SF don't even arrest someone unless the theft is more than $950. It's just a ticket

Shit, thank God you weren't there when I was a teen changing price tags & getting video games & football cards on the cheap.

I finally got caught in Wal Mart & they took me in the back & my Grandparents followed (They were waiting in the car for me & the guy didn't stop me till after I left the store.) I refused to sign anything & they told me I can never come back.
