We lost Jake (the ruby) back in 2018 at 15 and now Chloe (tri-color) has stopped eating, thinking its time but we'll see what the vet has to say...

Thanks. Almost three years of medications to deal with heart failure have led to severe kidney failure. Now a quality of life decision for us. She will eat turkey from the deli now but that last thing her kidneys need is all that protein. Hoping we can keep her going till the weekend so that the boys can come home to say goodbye.

That sounds rough. Not exactly the same as you but I've been there. Most of us pet owners have had to go through it. It's hard. I'm sure you'll know the right time to say farewell to your old friend.

Oh no, so sorry to hear. I hope the vet has a solution at least for the short-term. This is one thing that doesn’t get easier with experience. Sorry you and your family are going through it again.

Not really unfortunately. Options are 4-5 days in the vet hospital hoping to stabilize her and get her eating again and that might buy an undetermined amount of time. It’s just time though she seems comfortable so we’re hoping to keep her going until the weekend so the boys can make it home from school to say goodbye.

Well she took a turn for the worse this morning so we had to let her go, the kidneys were too far gone.
