Yeah you'll want a riser rail for that. Don't get a super expensive one or anything but don't get a cheapo either; the nicer ones weigh a LOT less and mount more securely. Don't get a Chinese-made one, they are usually solid steel with crappy hardware.
That optic looks really nice though. 2-6X is perfect for an AR. |

After a 6 months wait for Gun Permits(peoples republic of NJ) I had to run to my FLL's place and pic up the CZ 75 D PCR---. That he was holding for me for 5 months in his safe.
The range is literally around the corner from his place. WOW!!!, what a great gun!!! 200rds down range, home and a good cleaning

Co-witnessing is nice, but not necessary. It makes sighting in one or the other easier, as well as telling if the zero has been bumped. (if it's a big bump) The point of BUIS is that they are back up to your primary sighting system. If you're primary sighting optic is working properly and not damaged or pushed off of zero, there is no reason to use BUIS. If you're optic is damaged, dead battery, moved from zero, etc... the best thing to do is remove it from the rifle for an unimpeded view of your NEW primary sighting system.
A quick release mount makes it easy and fast to remove. As well as replace if it's something as simple as replacing a battery, cleaning, etc... Larue is hard to beat for a reliable return to zero quick release mount.

I wasn't responding specifically to him. Just a general statement about how co-witnessing is merely a convenience procedure. Once your optic is zeroed and your irons are zeroed, you can and will use them independently. You're never going to use them simultaneously.

What the hell do you have on your rail that's making you run out of space?

Light on one side and laser on the other. 7" rail keeps weight down. Yes I know they're both not super necessary but SHTF I'd rather have it. Plus I don't think home invaders will respect if I call time out to remove the ACOG.

30 06 is going to drop them, had an opportunity to buy buddies 308 win mag but last time he shot a deer arpund 70 yards out it caught the shoulder and blew out the opposite side. Looked like someone stuffed a little grenade in the deer, blew it to pieces.
