We had a picnic at the side of the reservoire that's surrounded by the nature preserve where I take a lot of my wildlife shots. In this shot the sun has just set, but there's a sail boat race finishing up in front of the dam and some really nice clouds. Shot with the 5D MkII and my EF 24-105mm f/4L IS:

Dutch angles have a purpose. There's absolutely no need for it in 99.9% of photography. It should serve a purpose to help portray a particular type of subject or the balance of a chosen composition (a car is parked on a 40-degree steep incline and the scene has a lot of parallel and perpendicular elements to COMPLEMENT a dutch angle that puts the car parallel with the edges of a frame, for example).
Tilting the camera to try and make a shot "interesting" is a crutch and used to try to exude some form of creativity that isn't there. Since you asked...

Is that an image of a car or a portico? To my eye there's way too much foreground showing empty pavement and taking emphasis off the car. If the image had been tight in on the car, with the drive and background not dominating, then the Dutch angles might have been less distracting to my eye.

As Rodi says, you need to be real careful with it. Some people use it as an alternative to oversaturating their colors or doing every landscape in cartoonish HDR.

I can imagine a context where that works, like if you were documenting a work environment. The barrel distortion, Dutch angle and OOF logo are techniques that I notice a lot in advertising, so I can see it in a context like that.

But in all seriousness my quirks are tiltshift and selective color. They are over done. I think the dutch angle, if done right looks nice.

Nice looking car. The angle is not distracting on that one either. The dumpster in the background draws the eye a bit, though.

Not really the question I was asking but thats ok

. To be honest I took picture a while ago and I wanted the portico(?) AND the car to dominate the photo (which they do IMO). I took a shot without the dutch angle and it just wasn't as compelling...at least with the dutch angle somebody has to notice...even if it does mess with your eyes
