Not sure I've seen this question yet. If you weren't a cop, what job would you like to have?
I would probably be in I.T. or architecture, which is where I was heading prior to becoming a cop.

So from time to time I’ll watch Live PD and other cop shows and at times during a chase, the perp(s) drive to their house and flee. Please help me understand this. Are they going home thinking because they’re home, it’s going to be ok or do they think that the vehicle won’t be impounded?

Have you encountered a chase when they actually pulled up in their driveway?

Standard animalistic response. We run to our safe spaces. We run home.

I'm sure the psycho-babblists have a technical term, but I don't know it. Humans are creatures of habit. We are predictable. When scared, we run to where we feel safe, just like wild animals.

I get anxiety in the air despite loving to travel. Airplanes make me nervous. It's a control thing I suppose.

As for racing....

.....back when I first decided to set my sights on a career in law enforcement, I hadn't yet dove down the rabbit hole that is motorcycle racing. I started riding/tracking/racing in my early 30's, so I was well beyond the prime professional racing age. Unfortunately here in the states, motorcycle culture isn't the same as Europe. I wish we had a similar conduit for racing here, but alas....'tis America.

Part of it is what Fly320s mentioned below and part of it is having home court advantage. In their residence, they have the tactical upper hand.

Meh. Believe what you want. I tried honest discussion but you refuse to engage honestly. You do not respond to data. You cherry pick information that has no correlation to causation. Whatever. I lose no sleep over it.

DESPITE what the legal book says, even after 4 Kentucky Blood drinks I'm convinced I'm a much better driver than my wife. She didn't see the guy on the bike (with reflective vest) nor the guy/horse coming towards us in the home stretch. And STILL it's against the law for me to drive?

Might be the Buffalo Trace talking, right Murf??

I't no mystery why.
It all has to do with skill, knowledge, & experience.

Yup, a couple of them. I had a guy many years ago on New Years Eve, he tuned up his wife, tossed her out of the car while it was moving and drove straight to his house with us right on his ass. About 5 miles from where he dumped her (she wasn't hurt badly) he bailed out on the front lawn and then argued with us that we couldn't arrest him because he was on his property....might have been the booze talking. Anyway, he resisted and lost. A very long list of charges.....

Not sure I've seen this question yet. If you weren't a cop, what job would you like to have?
I was in the Commercial Diving industry before I joined the job. Probably would've stayed there as I quite liked it. It was actually an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) friend who I meet when I was working in norther Ontario who convinced me to join the job.

Now if I'd answered this question last night, I might have said Bikini Wax technician to the stars, but that would've been the rum talking.

Always trying to get the last word in is a pathological trait of egomaniacs and certainly Internet Trolls.

Best way to deal with them is to ignore them. ( Ignore function) At the end of the day, they end-up mumbling to themselves when their toxic vitriol goes unanswered.

An excellent choice. There are many bourbons that are excellent though. I'm a fan of Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam Distillers Masterpiece (a bit expensive), Redemption, Bullett to name a few. Bottom shelf is my Bourbon.

That's all good & cute, but does it explain why others instigate the toxic vitriol?
It ain't me, girl! You all go six to one on me!

PS: I was going to look up the psychology of groups that don't tolerate divergent viewpoints, but....
And I really don't mind if you ignore my posts; I ignore most of yours.
Oh yeah, at the end of the day I will probably be listening to music on the tube system, sipping an IPA, and not alone (mumbling to myself)!
