Played a nice round with my son at a great public course in central MD. A day with my son is priceless, golf is secondary. We enjoyed ourselves, he played better than me as usual. I dropped a couple of strokes from my last 18-hole round.

As always I had a number of good drives and a couple of good iron shots, including a 3-foot putt after a 150-yd approach shot onto the green for a birdie. Rare occasion for me!

Putting was average for me.

Course condition overall was good; recent rains created some wet spots. Weather was warm with high humidity, typical for the mid-Atlantic in late summer.

p.s. I cleaned my club after every shot!

Do any of you track yardages with software? Over the past five rounds, I'm trying to slow my swing down to gain accuracy (since my HDCP jumped 2 points this year). Also thinking that now that I'm in my 50's, I should be more consistent opposed to trying to keep up with the boys.

My yardage is starting to come into where I want to see them. Typically, 5 iron has been a 205 club for me...really would like to see this as a 195avg. Even brought my drive down to a 250avg...has been sitting at 260+, but now I seem to be hitting more fairways.

Anyway, I track with Garmin. Any of you use software to track? Where you at (and yes, I carry 5 wedges)...

I don't use any software to do this except the corrupt version running inside my head on organic hardware.

Seems you and I are hitting the ball a similar distance. I get my results using a laser to get distances to pins and selecting clubs based on that. You might be a tad longer but then I am celebrating 70 in a few months.

I am curious about the max number of 480 yards with driver. WHAT!!!!

Love to say that I drove the green on an uphill par 5 and putted for an albatross (then eagle, then birdie, then putted for par). But most likely, there was a round in there that didn't catch my 2nd shot. I don't look at these often, so I could get 5+ rounds in before seeing a mistake like this. I believe my actual longest is ~330 with a solid downhill and some run. I'll hit over 300 once every couple rounds.

Playing a new course here in Cincinnati, OH next Saturday (9/21) in an area that I am trying to convince the wifey for us to move to!

Looking forward to getting back out on the course after being away for a month or so.

I live in a golf course. Lots of people ask me if my wife plays also. My response is "I'm not sure".

We are similar in distance except driver and 3 wood. I am for some reason losing distance there but not the other clubs. I'm guessing my driver is about 245 and 3 wood 230. On the other hand I hit more fairways than you are measuring so maybe it's a reduced effort to improve control. Whatever those are stellar numbers for 53.

Thanks.
Note the set of fairway woods are new so those numbers are from a small sample size, especially the 5w.

Tee time on Saturday for 18 holes at one of the top golf resorts in the region. Likely my last round this season. Maybe a round in Florida around the holidays.

Yesterday was "thankfuckmas" here in the Phoenix area. Yes every year the date changes but it marks the first day the temperatures don't exceed 100 degrees. After 100 days of "oh shit" it is a relief.

Played today and a high of about 94 or so. Won a skin. All is well in the world.

Played a nice round on a premier links course in the region.

Tee shots were consistent in the 275+/- range. Wedge was working well and I 2-putted more greens than usual. Weather was perfect. Score….well it’s not about the score!

Likely end of the regular season for me. Hoping for a round in FL in the winter.

That is awesome! How did the course look?

So my work golf teammate who plays in our golf league together, we played at a local course here in Cincinnati, OH on the eastside of the city in Loveland. The course was very pretty and well kept..for the most part. Majority of the tee boxes could have used a nice little trim. Weather was nice in the morning but the heat slowly started to creep up towards the end. Got up to be 91 here yesterday. I am freakin over the heat.

Front 9 was a little more open than the back 9. I had some great tee shots! I know a few of them were so good and pure down the fairway...however I couldn't find the damn ball to save my life and we searched and searched. Lots of leaves on the ground. So maybe under a leaf? That was the frustrating part of it all.

I tried a new swing with my irons and it worked 90% of the time. I ended up hitting the ball farther than before. So to adjust my clubs to what I was previously hitting was a challenge for me.

Wedges...worked some times and other times..nope. lol

Putting, was on point. Greens were fast!

This is probably my last round of the season, but I am trying to play 2 more times next month before officially closing it out for the year.

^Thanks!^ Sounds like you had a good round.

The course yesterday was in perfect condition, which is usual for this resort. It is a somewhat recently constructed facility, so the course architecture and systems are modern. Zero wet spots even when there has been rain. Fairways are like greens and the rough is non-irrigated fescue. Nice feeling.

Greens were fast as usual. Large greens with alot of shape and contour. Quite difficult. And enjoyable.

Traffic on the course was fairly light. Our foursome was booked (I played as a single) but the starter let us spread out as twosomes across two tee times because of light traffic. For about 14 holes the two of us played at our own efficient pace. At 15 we caught up to two foursomes and slowly finished the round.

It was a nice day. I listened to college football on the drive home and slept well last night! . Grateful!

Is Arccos a subscription? I went with Garmin for the $0 monthly costs...but do like the Arccos sensors much more than what I have.

Just assume you're a fellow '71er.

Client invited me to play the prestigious Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus NJ Sunday. Been there to spectate PGA events but never played it. Super excited to play the course. Hope the weather holds up.

This round will also be the first with my new Titleist GT3 driver. Great place to break ‘er in!

Shot an 85 the other day and hit 100% of fairways.

Duffed about 95% of my chips and triple bogeyed 2 of the par 3s as a result. Doubled one of the par 5s from a hooked OB shot. A couple 3 putts made for the rest of the strokes.

Sigh...at least my long game is solidifying again. Just need to tighten up the chips. I played Baylands in palo alto and the fairways around the greens can be super thin / hard which makes chipping hard since you can't really hit the ground you have to skim it and have a super level shot. I switched to using my putter from off the green after the duffed shots on the par 3s.

Played Thursday at Deer Creek south course - free round from wining a tournament earlier this summer. https://www.mydeercreek.com/
Felt like I was scrambling the entire round. Shot an 83

Played today at Oakridge https://www.golfoakridge.com/ and shot an 80. 43 front 37 back. Again was scrambling on the front but put it together on the back 9.

Really like the new driver, way more consistent than withe the old M1.

Heading up to Deerhurst Resort tomorrow and playing the Highlands course on Monday.

I played a course in Phoenix Thursday called Tatum Ranch. 112 degrees out. They were already letting the Bermuda grass go dormant for overseed and the entire course was brown. Only good came of it I shot a 75 (was a chipping god) and took second in the comp.
