My wife is just getting into shooting pistols so I've ordered her a Ruger Target pistol 22LR for her to learn the basics on. It should be here in the next few days. I'm giving it to her for Valentines Day. Once she gets the basics down she can move up to some centre fire stuff. I miss my duty pistol so I think I"m going to get myself a Glock 22, I've still got ton's of .40cal ammunition from when I was on the job.

The other thing that happened when we went to the pistol from the revolver is we were getting more rounds on target in shootings. The conversion course to the semi auto's was excellent. The focus went from just hitting the target, the shooting used to be target practice with the revolver to combat style shooting. As i recall it was a 1 week course with about 1500 rounds fired. Lots of drills for stoppages, weak hand shooting, moving and shooting and engaging multiple targets. The proficiency went through the roof. Practice, practice, practice! |

I am a new firearm owner and was happy to find this discussion. I just bought a Beretta APX Centurion 9mm for home defense and enjoyed my first trip to the range. I've been learning a lot about safety, maintenance and technique and find that it's an interesting subject. Needless to say, I had to shoot a couple images after cleaning it up following the trip to the range.

That's fun&ed up. My wife works in government which is like the most anti gun environment, she has ear-rings that are made out of the base of 9mm cartridges, and keeps a couple of silhouette targets with some pretty respectable groupings in her office......makes some folks a bit twitchy.

I ordered my wife a Ruger 22LR target pistol for her to learn the basics, should be here for valentines day, I ordered a Glock 22 for myself. I have tons of .40 in the basement but when the glock gets here I'm going to get a conversion barrel for 9mm and maybe .357sig.
My wife wants a .357 revolver, my gun guy has a lightly used Smith 626 .357 in stainless, with factory rubber grips for $699 ($532 US), I'm thinking of grabbing it too, seems like a good deal. Am I wrong...maybe give it to her for her birthday. Last edited by Grumpy Old Man; 02-04-2019 at 05:03 PM.. |
