I'm hoping the Vikings entertain all reasonable options before the trade deadline tomorrow. The local radio guys think they will stick with the three QB's on the roster (Jaren Hall, Nick Mullens, Sean Mannion). Going out and trading for a veteran QB who has had success starting games would be cool but what would the learning curve be for our offensive system? If we had a solid running game I'd say roll with Jaren Hall or Mullens but our offense has been executing assuming we have a good pocket passer like Cousins playing.

I'm wondering what Minn would have to give up to get a "proven" QB like Tannehill, etc. Even for one year, how far is this team gonna go? Detroit most likely winning the division, is Minn even a favorite for a wild card spot? Is it worth it to give up high draft picks for a temp starter? I would resign Cousins for a couple years and build the team around him. Don't think there are that many better options out there.

The Vikings have a shot to get to 2 or 3 games over 500 before their bye week. The next few opponents are easier games and they have one of the easiest remaining schedules. So on paper they do have a realistic shot at getting a wild card spot. I do not see them catching Detroit unless they can beat the Lions both games later this season.

I don't see them making a splash with a trade today but Tannehill could make sense. He is on the final year of his deal and the Titans have Will Levis and Malik Willis. But the Titans probably see Tannehill as their best option to make the playoffs.

I do like the idea of resigning Kirk again and agree he is the best available option. But that comes with risk given the injury and unknown timeframe for recovery. Maybe he would resign for much cheaper??

Tannehill isn't a bad QB, can be ok with good offense around him, the Titans are going nowhere. Vikes can have him as then it will force the Titans to do something else, they have been stagnant for years, not rebuilding nor making moves to be very competitive.

Well there it is. Vikings trade a 2024 6th round and conditional 7th round draft pick to Arizona for Josh Dobbs. I don't hate it. Dobbs has made some plays this year. Wonder what he will look like in a better system.

I see you fighting the Lions going forward for first round bye. Lions schedule is insanely easy. 49ers are just too banged up. They will need to get healthy for playoffs.

My Vikings are 5 and 4 after starting the season with 3 straight losses. Jefferson has been out for 4 games, Cousins out for the season. The game yesterday couldn't have started any worse with Jaren Hall getting knocked out of the game. Dobbs comes in and gets sacked in the endzone for a safety. Then the guy gives the ball up twice. But the team stayed together and made it work. Getting to the bye week at 7 and 5 is still feasible.

I thought the Vikings played at 1 Pac, so started driving home and suddenly I get an alert. WTF???
I got home in time to follow on ESPN gamecast holding my breath with ~:55 left in the game.

Very close game and a couple of near miss TDs.

I fully expect DALLAS to not only beat the Eagles when they come here, but by a significant margin. I'll be there to witness it too.

Thanks. Those were my favorite plays of the game, so I figured I snapshot them for posterity.

The NFL is an any given Sunday league, so you guys might beat us in Dallas... Then again, you might poop the bed this week against Danny Devito and the Giants like you did against the 1 win Cardinals. All I know is it's nice having a 2 1/2 game lead on the 1OA NFC and NFC East seeding half way through the season with the bye week on tap to get a little healthier. We have a tough next 5 games coming up, but your stretch of Seahawks, Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, Lions isn't that much easier.

It does not suck to be a Vikes fan right now! Started 0 and 3 and now 6 and 4 with 3 winnable games in a row. I really think the Vikes are a pretty good and well-rounded team. Not sure yet how we would stack up vs the Eagles, Cowboys or 49'ers in the playoffs but we're trending the right way.

From July 2022(before the season):

Mac played with the second team O and defense during camp and could barely move the ball down the field. Mac was the same guy during the season that he was in preseason and camp: low risk, short throws because he didn’t trust his arm to make the tight windows and deep throws.

Despite being gifted a team and offense he didn’t earn, his production was terrible. 22TDs to 13ints. Keep in mind Cam had LESS to work with last season - his top receiver was Jackobi Meyers, and NKeal was literally #2, and his top TE are now currently benchwarming as 4th strings. And had about the same stat line. Literally, no one could have done better in that situation.

Mac managed to get 3 more wins with 250 MILLION in new personnel, and an easier schedule. And he STILL lost 4 of the last 5 games when actually asked to do his job and pass the ball. I believe the Colts watched the Tape and decided to shut down the run game and force Mac to pass, and he blew it. It would have been 5/5 but the Windstorm in the Buff game saved him.

I get it, Mac is a rookie, he has room to grow. But honestly, Mac sat Behind Tua in college, and had one good year with basically an NFL roaster and was thrown right into the pros so he could stoke Bills ego - Bill is still salty that Brady won a SB without him showing that Bill didn’t help him - he was helping Bill. Mac has never shown any ‘flashes’ to say he’s on the same level as Herbert, Burrow, Allen or the like. He’s a game manager, who if he’s luck, may get to Alex Smith levels of stats and wins - basically your need a loaded team just to get to the playoffs.

Mahomes is a good counter point to Smith, as he was able to elevate the players around him. Mac hasn’t and doesn’t do that. In less games - Cam gave Julian Edelman a Career game (despite playing with Brady) He elevated Nkeal to his best season (very hard to do) had no James White security blanket and still scored 66% of the teams TDs.

Bil'ls arrogance is going to tank that team and I hope he takes Mac with him.
I was so right - except I don't blame Bill - I blame Josh McDaniels and Robert Kraft. I know Bill wanted Cam - Josh thinking he was hot stuff in his "system" wanted a slow, weak armed pocket passer and selected Jones. Robert Kraft wanted a white pocket passer as the face of the franchise:

Watching Mac float the ball, and lose the last 4-5 games because his noodle arm couldn’t throw more than 10 yards despite having 2 star TEs, a reliable deep threat he can’t use, and 2 WR2s.

Brady is just transcendent - he’s the exception to the rule, and per him, it’s because his wife is a witch and uses black magic. Hard to argue it isn’t true when he’s head and shoulders above everyone else and carried Bills sorry rosters for 20 years. Used to be a Big Brady, fan, and I love the dominance, but he’s made it so that no one looks exceptional unless they can mimic him in some way, and that’s kinda boring.

That being said, he retires on this SB win and takes a shot at Bill on his way out - the Patriots finish 9-8, and Mac gets exposed as a game manager backup QB that he is.
I was a game off the Patriots finish last year - they finished 8-9 and Mac was exposed as the garbage back up game manager that he's always been. Mac was never THE guy, he's always been A guy - a terrible one at that.
Waiting for the Cam redemption arc and where Mac and Josh McDaniels are at home watching it.

Mac sucks(always).

Cam sucks(now).

Cam thinks he will be in the HOF: https://atozsports.com/carolina/pant...land-patriots/ does anyone else think he will be? Maybe if he had won that superbowl 9 years ago. Only one SB appearance and you lose? Doesn't sound like HOF to me. Only HOF he will be is in the Panthers.

"Robert Kraft wanted a white pocket passer as the face of the franchise" <-- Got anything to back that up or just your opinion? You think the old white jewish man is so racist he can't handle a black QB?

I think it is clear MJ is not the future of the patriots. Or perhaps the future of any NFL team unless he wants to be a back up...even then...

Bro, being "Jewish" doesn't exclude people from being racist (especially since part of their religion is predicated on it)

I wasn't even a Cam fan until he played with NE - (me, being a former Patriots fan) but then I realized how unlikeable the franchise is, how unlikable Josh McDaniels is - and how cheap Robert Kraft is.

Outside of sources say statements that RK and Josh wanted Mac, there is nothing anyone can/will say to "prove" that the product Kraft wanted was a white pocket passer to follow up the previous greatest QB who was just that.

Let's not kid ourselves on what kind of city Boston is, or how the fanbase reacted to Cam going 7-8 vs Mac going 8-9. Again, Mac LOST the QB competition and was still selected as QB. I don't know what you want to call that, but fair isn't it.

Another point -

Mac Jones has 2 (1 literally this season) game winning drives in 3 years as a player.
Cam Newton has 3 in 1 season with the Patriots. LOL - Mac Jones is TERRIBLE, and the fact that he keeps starting despite being as terrible as he is shows the NFL is not a meritocracy. Malcom Butler was benched in the SB for supposedly being late to practice and for "performance issues"

Mac Jones openly undermined the coaching staff, is a dirty player and is just GARBAGE at his job (not to mention boring) Yet, he's started for 3 years now. If he gets another start here or elsewhere, I don't know what else can be said.
