fake badge sighting in CO

Mercedes-Benz C350 coupe posing with fake AMG badge tonight. I bet it was one of those students who came into the place when we were eating.

Oh wait...never mind
Passed a 335i on the way to work today whilst in my E93 M...he had a ///M badge on both fenders and the trunk...AND A 535i badge...

We made brief eye contact - his shame was epic and delicious

Seems BMW is going crazy with their semi-misleading badges.
Agree with this. No need at all for the GT badge. Silly. And I agree with those who have pointed out the ///M badge has been exploited more by BMW than it has these occasional jokers who add it to their rearends. But BMW (and Porsche and others) is not afraid to dilute brand equity of their key models in order to sell more cars. Seems everything with BMW is M now. Porsche is coming out with the GT4 soon. And it's a Cayman variant, not 911. :roll eyes: If Porsche came out with the same exact car but called it the new Cayman R, it wouldn't do nearly as well...so GT4 it is.

Garage List
2012 BMW E92 M3  [9.00]
Two days ago, I went passed a white 7 series that was stopped in the left turn lane and did not have time to snap a pic of its trunk badge, but did see a large decal on the door that read "Airport Shuttle". Now I'm on the lookout for it because the "model" designation on the trunk lid were "775L".

To be fair though, there are some dealerships near me that do this for customer cars even before delivery. They offered it to on my 335 thinking I would love it and was surprised when I turned them down.

As well, there are plenty of people who hear something once and don't remeber the details when it comes to their car. My brother in law is still convinced his 750 is a V12 because the dealer told him so. A count of the cylinders wouldn't even change his mind.

LOL... it's not bothering me when people use M badge at all. Indeed they are respecting M Division ...
What is really bothering me is 12 M badge we have on our cars (exterior) and 6 M badge (interior) for total of 18 badges...

I understand and I respect when they would decline like you did. But obviously the owner agreed to it and was most likely excited about hes M and to top it off I can BET that he's reasoning would be that he tuned and modified it to be faster then the m equivalent

I've found it fun recently to just pull up alongside any fake badges and simply give a thumbs down out the window.

Most likely not the reaction they're looking for from other BMW owners.

Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt and assume it was previously on his C63 AMG Black Edition and he has fallen on hard times. I am sure he wants to get back to his previous financial position, so he is just hanging onto the plates until he pulls himself up by his bootstraps and gets another one!

But that dealership I was talking about does it to cars in the showroom for sale. They have M Performance parts added to it so I think that is how they justify it. They will let customers assume that it is an M-like car and some have no clue what they are really buying and put credibility in the M badging even though us enthusiasts know what is what.

Having said that, yes, the majority are posers trying to fool others who don't really know much about vehicles in general.

The ppl who do fall for the tricks generally aren't enthusiast to begin with and wouldn't even understand what they are posing to be. But I understand where ur coming from too about scam artist dealerships

I debadged the wife's 2015 X5 x35i it's black and the chrome badges they stick all over the thing looked horrible. Personally I could GAF what people think it is one guy at the mall asked if it was one of those new KIa's I just smiled and said yes. He replied that's bad ass man! If people can't tell what a car is or isn't by looking at it chances are they don't GAF either.
