1,000mm hand held at 1/80-sec. The IS in the new Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II is astounding! I simply walked out on the balcony, reduced EV to -3 and shot:

1/80 for 1000mm is indeed astounding. That is some impressive IS capability. How much of a crop is that?

I hated sending the Series II 500mm back, but it was killing me to send the 1D X back. It's performance with long lens and TCs just blew my 5D3 into the weeds.

I feel your pain. That's why it's best that I keep such devices out of my hands...too much temptation for sure!

Well for the amount of money that lens is worth, I would expect some amazing shots with it :P
1/80 handheld with that though? Amazing. |

Left Portland last night at 6, got home at 3 this morning. I am not 20 anymore.
Shot from the trip up. This is Black Butte mountain, a lava cone created by the nearby Mt. Shasta's volcanic activity. This is no kidding, feet from the interstate and a landmark as you drive north on I-5 toward Oregon. Black Butte Mountain by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Pura Vida Grasshopper
Shot this last year in Costa Rica on a Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro from about 10 feet away. These things are huge! See http://www.bobbyrica.com/wp-content/...rasshopper.jpg to get an idea of the size. Wish I had a tripod with me and had stopped down some. |
