Oh PIA got the FL at the last gap.
HAM was just 1.4 secs in front of MAX.
Max just so much faster in the wet and then at the end in the dry despite being on the slower tire. This is why he is so much better than the rest. In the 3rd fastest car, on the slowest tire vs the fastest he hunted them down and passed like no other driver could.

Is this the last win Ham will ever have? Probably not a bad bet to make.

Very nice race. Genuine battles for points, podium and win. With better strategy, Piastri would’ve been in that mix too.

I wonder if Hamilton is having second thoughts about going to Ferrari.

A few more laps and who knows, the Max factor worked as well as could be expected under the circumstances.

He has to. Then again, when the 80-100 hp has been removed from the MB advantage and his skills are the top priority, he's won 1 race in the last 55 races - that speaks a multitude of volumes.

If Max goes to Mercedes, Mercedes would pay anything because of age, period. Hamilton is 39 years old, Max is 26, it’s a no brainer who get the big contract. Everything else is just fanboy talk. At the end of the day, F1 is still a business. You think Red Bull regrets the Checo extension with his performance? No, this was clearly a business/monetary decision that needed to be done.
Isn't the point to win? I mean I guess he's gotten use to not winning so much he might as well take the money and not win.

Apparently, McLaren borrowed Ferrari strategist. So many bad decisions. RB made a good choice with the hard tires. McLaren should have put mediums on Lando so he wouldn’t have fallen off at the end.

1 more lap and MAX had DRS behind LEW ...

In the last 15 laps MAX was suddenly faster .
A lighter RB20 was running faster with less of fuel ...

RB made the right call knowing Max in the wet (like the dry) is just in another league than anyone. The way he was cutting down time in the wet while Ham and Nor struggled, despite those two having way more downforce and thus should have been much faster shows his prowess like many races before of his wet driving skill.
Mclaren keep screwing themselves because they back Nor who simply is not as good as Pia but favor him on parts and strategy and he let's them down time and time again. Maybe they'll wise up.

At this point in his career, how much does it really matter for more wins vs. driving for Ferrari? If HAM was still in his 20’s, yeah, but there has to be a realisatiom that HAM is on his way out. It’s not like Mercedes are still world beaters. They’re on par with Ferrari so all things considered, the move to Ferrari was/is correct for his career today.

But that’s just how I look at it.

Yes, Max ran a lower downforce wing which should have put him at a big disadvantage in the rain vs Nor and Ham but his skill in the car and conditions set him a league above as usual.
The RB looks to be tracking back on the right track and will raise hell as RB comes in 2H and rocks it like 2022.

If only, Webber said it may be LEW's last win so it's a good place to get it not far from where he was born.

What matters are the points
MAX. 255
LAN. 171
CHAS. 150 with Carlos just 4 behind

Apparently a wrong McLaren strat where LAN and PIA should have stacked with LAN rueing his 3rd place and appeared gutted showing his frustration.

If the Benz can keep that speed in the coming races ...
Wonder from where or from what they got it from.

Then MAX and Lando will get a hard time to beat them
MAX is also in the danger zone with his HONDA PU's (!)

Next races are Hungary and Spa-Francorchamps .

Checo ?
Ohhhh man ,Checo is been lapped by MAX! That was really bad again !

MB certainly have had the fastest car for multiple of the last few rounds - they just don't have the drivers to bring home a win like Max can (even when his car is 2nd, 3rd, or 4th fastest).
I personally don't understand why you'd race if you didnt want to win but I guess my mindset is different. Either place they are paying him way more than what his results deliver (all other things aside).

I REALLY don't get it. How can so many smart people get things so wrong?

I'm not a racer and not that brilliant....Yet, I sit here screaming at the TV "WTF are you doing" and be right most of the time. Like calling LEC in too early for inters or McLaren not double stacking....WTF

Great race by Lewis and Mercedes, still one of the best in damp conditions. That win just felt right.

Honestly can't believe Max ended up in 2nd, that was a championship drive.

Ferrari...what a complete clown show. Wrong tires for Leclerc again. Why is Lewis going to Ferrari? They better hit those new regulations correctly.

Ham might be good in the rain but Max is definitely better. He made Ham and Nor look slow despite them having the downforce which should have made them much faster than Max and his small wing in those conditions.
It's fun to watch Ferrari and their mess of a team...Mclaren don't seem far behind backing the wrong driver who will likely never win them anything. They should give Pia first dibs at parts and strat because he's the far more talented driver.

It is embarrassing honestly. McLaren is going to pass them next race. They would already be ahead if Lando didn't DNF last weekend.

Points going into this weekend:
RB - 355
Ferrari - 291
McLaren - 268

After:
RB - 373
Ferrari - 302
McLaren - 295
