i agree, i tried/have a flat trigger on one of my ars, the only time i even think about it is when i first pick it up, or dry fire it a bit, with live ammo on the range it’s just a super sweet trigger with an insane reset

Not sure what youre getting at can your 458 knock out a tank? Different weapons have different functions? My 870 is set up as a hall sweeper tactical weapon with a 25 yard zero on the ghost rings. It will allow me to shoot slugs at 100 yards effectively and could hunt deer in rifle season with it if I wished. How would that weapon function inside a house against said 870? Poorly at best.

What brand of wall mount system is that? I really wanted to mount my guns horizontally like that, but just didn't have the room.

he's the one who said he has no desire for anything like a .458 but in the same breath wants a 50 cal, and if that isn't long range I don't know what is! he also talked about his tacticool rem 870 and in the same breath said he can hit something at 100 yards with a slug... unless he lives in a bomber hangar, I'm not sure how that is at all meaningful in a conversation about a home/self defense shotgun. I'm just reading some incongruous statements |

It's not that complicated. If you shoot 3 gun you may be called on to put slugs on target at 50 yards maybe 75. Your tactical shotgun needs to be a bit versatile. Its not tacticool at all its functional. 870 pump about as basic as can get and I lIke that and can rely on it. I see no need to have a 458 or 50 Barrett. I don't have either. My ars can do what is required with rds or carry handle. Self defense in civilian life hard to justify at 1000 yards.
You are right though my statements could be misleading. Don't want to spend money to feed those types of gun. Or believe in having things I can't use. I shoot all of my guns routinely, usually go 1-2 times a week. Last edited by 1MOREMOD; 01-27-2018 at 12:00 AM.. |

all good, I was just a little confused with the statements since we were kind of going back and forth between tactical / self / home defense short range / mid-long range there all within a couple of posts and I literally LOL'ed @ self defense being hard to justify at 1000 yards. I think that's an extreme understatement, even here in Texas |

I consider it a privilege to have been able to do it, and looking back I have a hard time even thinking about life without it. Good, bad, ugly... I'd do it all again. I have dreams several nights a week that are service related, it's so much a part of me I can't even get away from it when I sleep. or even when I drive, for that matter |

that thing is a nightmare to disassemble, clean, and put back together. the Mk IVs apparently solved that problem Be careful what you ask for. I've fired probably 3000 rounds through it, and shoot it probably more than any of my other guns (from my back patio) just to keep a bit of point-shoot hand-eye coordination ...but I don't take it apart. |
