Vaccinations are voluntary, but we still need our masks while dealing with the public. I think everybody is just over it.

Front line workers I think are pretty much required to have them as a condition of employment but my comment was more along the lines that we are in a hard lockdown here. The only businesses that are open are essentials, Food, Liquor, marijuana, pharmacies, etc. You can do curb side pick up for places like Home Depot, etc. It's all pretty depressing really.

Yeah, this lockdown kind of got me to be honest. It is the only one that has so far, but this one is a little tough. My scotch collection is depleting at an alarming rate. Far faster than my wallet can keep up.

We've got a hard lockdown starting tomorrow at 8AM, 4 weeks minimum. No non-essential travel out of or into the city, max 5 person gatherings including weddings and funerals, no organized sports or any other events inside or out, retail restricted to 25% capacity, bars and restaurants closed to inside patrons and on and on. All this because of some selfish idiots that arrived from Toronto and went bar hopping. IMO they should be fined heavily and those fines should be widely publicized, not their identities but the fact that they were prosecuted for their behaviour.

Have you tried revolting? I know that isn't very Canadian, but it can work.

It's familiar to those living in Quebec. They ALMOST seceded from the rest of the damn country!

IIRC, they lost the vote by a mere 1%?

IDK, is it? The actions of these individuals has caused the authorities to lock down the province in an attempt to control the spread of the virus and in doing so has basically shut down the economy and forced everyone into another four week round of isolation all because they wanted to party after getting out of Toronto and its tight lockdown. I think they should be held accountable for their selfish actions and the only recourse available is through fines that are in place for disregarding mandatory two week self-isolation upon entering NS. Publicizing those fines may deter others from doing the same and if so then I think it's justified.

Yeah, we're already in that kind of lockdown. Sucks. I get ICU cases are rising and need to control, but locking down after winter when it is going to get warm (I say this knowing full well there was a light dusting of snow in my yard this morning) - that was a little hard to swallow. Plus I'm in my busiest time, so I'm just irritated because I'm working long hours for the last month steady.

There have been a number of times I wish they had succeeded as I'm sure the resulting implosion would have been quite the thing to see. I have no faith they'd be able to make it on their own.

I think so, and I'll leave it that as this could quickly devolve into a political discussion that won't solve any of the problems. Time for rum.

It’s a good thing liquor stores are considered essential!

Before we went on lockdown last March, I took a bunch of cash out of the bank and stocked up on some wine. Little did I know, no one wanted cash transactions and the liquor stores would stay open for business.

All of the apocalyptic scenarios I run through in my mind resort to cash being king. I may be off base a little. lol! In the U.S. ammo may be the new currency.

It's always a good idea to have some cash on hand. Although, if all of the electronics, internet, electricity is off (Zombie Apocalypse) most of the folks working in retail likely wouldn't know how to take cash or make change.

Haha, true. Actually I occasionally use cash when shopping and I also like to get rid of some of my coins (yes I carry them sometimes in my wallet that has an actual pocket for coins[bought in Japan]). I'm used to giving the cashier a certain amount of money so that I won't need to receive many coins in return. For example the amount owed is $10.45 and I hand over $20.50 they don't know what the f*** to do with it. I'm like seriously? What the hell happened to the ability to do simple calculations?

Maybe now that I've gotten my Pfizer shot I'll be able to do more complex calculations in my head. I'll have to test that out. Oh that's the wrong thread too!
