I also prefer two cards also, but two 32GB cards. 16GB wouldn't bother me at all if I weren't shooting nature and using the 7-fps capacity of my 7D copiously. I shoot RAW plus a low quality jpeg for ease of review, so that's around 30MB per image. Still, I usually only use 8 or 10GB per outting, but I've also filled a card in 2-hours when the eagles were cooperating and fishing and flying close by.

Also, I make the occasional mistake and forget to reformat my card before I start a new shoot. I only do that three or four times per year, but I've hit the "Card Full" sign a time or two.

Literally, I've got a 32GB in each camera body and I've been known to move the 5D MkII card to the 7D mid-shoot, but I've also taken to carrying three 8GB cards that I accumulated before I decided that I needed 32GB. That and there's a battery in each camera and a spare battery in a pocket in my photo-vest.

Still, it all depends on how you shoot. I like to use one at a time, save the RAW files, reformat the card and start all over and not deal with multiple cards. All things can fail, but my cards seem to be more reliable than me, so keeping the number of active cards low reduces the chance that I'll lose one or forget to reformat or make some other error.

I just bought two 16GB CF cards in anticipation of buying a 7D in the next couple of weeks.

I'm liking this 135L. These were taken from the comfort of my living room through less than clean windows. Nothing spectacular, but these are the cleanest shots I've ever taken from that vantage point. I need to trim some twigs that are blocking the view of the feeder.

So the dumbasses that are delivering my new stove got stuck a few hundred yards from my house because they tried to drive a semi up an icy hill with a nasty turn near the top. There are two other roads that are flat just barely west of the one they took, but the GPS told them to drive up the hill, so they did. That's what happens when you let small electronic devices think for you.

In any case, I've been sitting here bored while I wait for them to get the truck un-stuck. We had to move a doll case to get the stove in and all the dolls are out on the dining room table. I thought, "Finally, a woman who will pose for me." Love this 135L, but damn this is a narrow DOF at F2 and minimum focus distance.

These will freak out Badger.

With no IS on that lens and me shivering as I freeze to death, the images wouldn't be so crisp. I'll wait for a day when it isn't sub-freezing with a 30MPH wind.

i've been planted at my desk for a few hours now editing shots from before christmas. so repetitive. raw adjustments in LR3, burning in CS5, Portrait Pro for retouching. almost done, finally.

finally finished. this was the most technically challenging shoot i've done...maybe ever. just getting the light balanced was hugely difficult. kinda disappointed cause the images lack an edge, but i decided against overprocessing to get one. i'll just try to get it better in camera next time.

Didn't get a ton for this one but sales do wonders for placing my images further up in searches

My 15" MacBook Pro is on its last leg. It's 5.5 years old now, and has served me well. I'm looking for a replacement, and I can't decide between a 13" MacBook Air or the 13" MacBook Pro.

The Air has 4gb RAM and a 256gb SSD, whereas the Pro will be upgraded to 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD. I think the Pro has a dedicated video card, and is slightly faster as well. But, the Air is lighter. What would you do?

I forgot to add... it will essentially be my workhorse for internet, PS, LR3, word-processing, etc. Downgrading from a 15" to a 13" worries me, but the 15" is just so damn heavy to carry back and forth from work every day. Plus, at work I have an external 23" display I can use.

i detest laptops and macbooks. reason being, they make something that's infinitely better and more reliable....

either a PC or an IMac

and if you really are just concerned about something portable for travel purposes, they make little netbooks that are 10-11" for 200$ which travel very well. and from my experience, i've been able to run DxO on one, but you better not be in a hurry to convert files. Otherwise, it ran it quite well, and if you get one with more ram, even better.

in reality however, if you looking for a laptop and only a laptop, and you expect it to last another 5ish years, then there's really no reason to go for the slower one.

if you were going to replace in the next 2 years, the slower one would be sufficient.

but as time goes on, programs are only going to get more demanding on the system. so going small for a long run, really isn't a good idea.

Better, yes, reliable, YMMV. I've had Macs since 1990 and have had literally only 1 issue with the 4 I've owned over those years.

I need something that I can take to work with me every day. A PC or iMac won't cut it. A windows/linux laptop won't do either (I hate windows, and many of the apps I use aren't in linux, and no I'm not going to run a virtual machine). Netbooks are too small and not powerful enough for a daily workhorse computer.

I think you are right with your last post though. Might as well get a computer I can upgrade later (i.e. buy more RAM, buy a bigger SSD).

The reason I'm thinking about a 13" instead of a 15" is to save money since I have external monitors at home and at work, and also to save on weight/size since I have to haul it everyday.
