Couldn't find Dos Maderas 5+5. They had the 5+3, but this looked more interesting, so I grabbed a bottle. Was just under $50.

Nice!
I have seen that brand at my local store but not this particular bottle. I recall the manager saying the tasting of the brand was quite good! Look forward to your thoughts...

"Thankful" - it's how you feel on a Friday, when you come home after another week of work, looking forward to that 'Friday evening dirty martini'.

"Idiot" - it's what you yell when you realize you forgot to buy olives.

Yet - still in with a bar full of choices.

Cuba Libre my friends, using the private stock - the fall back drink for everyone.

It is what it is.

You drink yours over ice or neat, TX?

ShopVac, whatever hits the spot, I say. Capt & Coke is way too sweet for me, but my brother will pound them down like water.

Nice. Very smooth. It's got a sweet nose, almost vanilla-caramel. I can't quite define the taste when it first hits the tongue, but the alcohol hits immediately upon swallowing, although not the dragon fire burn like you get from Aberlour A'Bunadh. The long finish is again vanilla-caramel sweet, but not overpoweringly so.

I don't think this will replace Scotch or Bourbon as my go-to drink, but it does make for a nice change of pace and will go down nicely in the warmer weather this summer.

Deviated from the norm tonight and went with knob creek rye. Though I do like rye, burbon just seems thicker and sweeter to me. Can't quite get a tast for it. Guess I'll stick to my peat.

Sounds about right. These rums have an initial heat that dissipates quickly. Definitely a longer finish than most spirits. I like it over ice which all but removes the heat but retains it's flavor.

Three Olives makes some good stuff. The expresso was always a favorite as an after dinner drink or in coffee. Straight is good just with club. They are smooth and can be served just over ice or with a splash of your favorite. I really don't like the fruity stuff but this wasn't bad.

Agreed. The ice doesn't detract at all.

I went and picked up a nice bottle of Hibiki "Japanese Harmony" (32 different whiskeys all mashed together, or something like that, then left in 3-5 different barrels) then I realized it was my BILIL's birthday on Saturday, so gave him the bottle. He said it was very nice in a text last night.
