Pete from GCI does have some nice grass seed which i'll be using here in the fall for overseeding. I like his tall fescue and his grass seems to do very well. tho pretty pricey it's not too bad compared to where Ryan Knorr, Jake and Allyn Hayne buys some of there seed from "The Super Seed Store" they are really pricey on their fescues. I had a smaller lot out from that I wiped out due to some tall clumping fescues which really got annoying when mowing but I ended up going to my local nursery and picking up their variety of tall fescue. i'm not a fan of rye grass.

I would just spot spray those dandelions or if it's really bad do a blanket treatment. I use Spectrecide from Menards. does the job and I buy the concentrated bottle which gives me more product for the season.
Yeah, I checked out some other places including the Super Seed Store. By comparison...GCI wasn't bad so I sprung for 3 bags.

Turns out that Lesco starter fert isn't readily available near me but is half the price at a HD 30 min from work. Guess I'll make the drive after work. Amazon has it for at twice the cost.

I will say, LT or not....I am not looking forward to spreading topsoil or sphagnum peat over all the seeds.

Yup! That's gonna be some tedious work! Have fun with that!

I forgot, that center flower bed where the horseshoe drive way with what looks like just dirt surrounding it I actually over the Weekend seeded it. broke up the dirt with a hoe and used a rake to break things up and level it out. laid out some new lawn soil and fertilizer on top for the new seeds and topped off with peat moss to cover the seeds. went with Tall Turf type Fescue.

There’s this that you could use for your garden and maybe your lawn if you want:

Ugh...freakin' rabbit eating my tulips this morning. Is there something I can use to get it out of my yard and into someone else's without killing it?

That's great, though I was thinking for lawns and it would pluck them out for you

You'd think they would make one device to do both.

Gearing up! I have Tenacity on the way and am ordering a temp dye to go with it. Will mow, aerate, and put down RGS when the LT is delivered in this Sat.

I may put down the Tenacity but perhaps I'll wait a week. We got a lot of rain this week and more is expected next week but the avg soil temps having dipped is why I give pause. I don't want to put it down and end up seeding/starter fert'ing at the end of it's effectiveness.

I'll post updates w/ how it does. I thought of sectioning the sparse areas in the backyard experimenting a little (w/ and w/o pre-M and fert application).

I bought a little extra since I know I'll be seeding again in the fall. The bags are sturdy and came in boxes for further protection. Ordered Monday morning and came in Wed afternoon (i.e. short lead).

I'm realizing something everyone...my green yard...is crabgrass that has gone completely out of control.

Any good post-emergents that work well?

I have found it very difficult to get rid of crab grass without damaging the rest of the lawn. There are some products that slow its growth but I have found killing it with weed killer and re-sodding is the only way to really get rid of it, at least with St. Augustine which is almost crab grass itself. Once eliminated, the best defense is a healthy lawn to crowd out weeds. Easier said than done, of course.

Wait, you mean crab grass is a weed????? All these years of supporting it, getting rid of all the other weeds, nurturing it to green up every spring.

Pretty much you have to hit crabgrass before it starts to germinate with pre emergent like Prodiamine. Some crabgrass will still make it in which you'll have to use post emergents like I think it's called Tenacity and Barricade?
