This is my daughter, just goofing around. Obviously I missed on some of the compositions, mostly because Jenna is nothing but pure bouncy energy in a small girl's body. JPEGs right out of the camera and resized. A few can be saved with some cropping, and they could use a few adjustments here and there.

Thanks. The amazing thing is that she is looking at the camera in these shots. That has proven to be the HARDEST thing for her. Big cameras, little cameras, doesn't matter. You ask her to smile for a picture, and it is like a conditioned response to close her eyes or immediately look to the far left or far right. Soooo frustrating.....

They don't want him.

Re: Jenna, did you leave your lights at a height for adults? Looks like you should drop them to get some reflected light to her chin. I like the first one the best

it's cause you got your subject comfortable as Zack is recommending

and i agree with Weebl

I was wondering how high your lights were. or if you left one high and one low, would it make a difference?

The setup for those shots are:
Neutral gray seamless paper background
SB-600 (TTL, slave) on the left with a Photoflex Extra Small Lite Dome
32" silver reflector on the right
SB-900 on camera (TTL, master) with a Lightsphere, aimed towards the reflector
D3 + 24-70 at f8, 1/60th and ISO800

The SB-600 was set about twice her height and at 45 degrees. I was trying for the "45 and 45" layout for the light. These are my first shots against a background and working with off-camera flash in a bigger way. So I'm still trying to get it figured out....

I'm thinking about selling the SB-600 (no master capability), replacing it with an SB-700 and adding a second SB-900 to the mix. Either that or getting some Pocketwizards, but still need more lights....

And I'm getting the picture....... "Head in a clean spot!"

one is none, two is one, three is two........

With that list, I'd only have 3 strobes. Not a lot by Joe McNally standards.....

I'd like extra lights for added flexibility.

It was good. I'm looking forward to today's workshop. How was your date?

HD if you can, since I'll recode it anyways for the hosting.
