That's the nightmare scenario I was referring to. Say UGA is #1 or #2 come SEC ship game and loses a close one to AL. Would they move a 12-1 UGA team out of the playoffs, who only lost a title game to an undefeated #1 or #2 AL team, in favor of a 11-1 ND team whose only loss is to UGA. Based on the week 1 rankings, with emphasis on head to head, I would say no. On the other hand, if AL loses a close one in the title game, do they fall out?

Still, we have to get there first, and are assuming a lot. Too much football left to be played.

Right now just focused on beating the hell out of the lamecocks this weekend and go from there.

It's nice to be in a position to worry about it!!

I think we're a 24pt favorite against SC.

I wouldn't put money on beating Ala twice in a few weeks. At least that scenario doesn't have UGA out of the top 4. Frankly, I'd be thrilled with a top 5 final ranking. I think the last time that happened was 2012

Conference championships are only a negative if you are afraid of losing. They are an opportunity to get another good win. If you can't win your conference, then it makes sense you need to be judged with everyone else.

IMO, there should be 8 teams in the playoffs - 5 Power conference champs + 3 teams chosen by committee. If you win conference if should mean a lot. If you don't, you shouldn't be able to back in because you didn't play a tough game at the end of the season, while someone else lost earlier but came in strong to win their conference. Everyone has a cupcake game they can drop to make it work schedule-wise. Too bad it won't happen.

Going to Miami - Va Tech tomorrow night. Can see us finally putting all the pieces together and playing a great game we win, to playing time crap again and getting blown out at home - or anything in between. What does everyone else predict?

It will be a close one, but I think you guys will win if you don't sleepwalk through any quarter. This game and ND next week will define the season.

With the big win over Ohio St too you may be right, but it seems like we have a new frontrunner each week. They will need to win out.

We'll find out soon enough. Irish OL / running game is definitely the real deal. Not as sold on Irish passing game or defense though. Canes need to play like last week minus throwing INTs. Keep getting that turnover chain out.

Glad game is in Miami. Last week was the first time I've been to Hard Rock when it approached the atmosphere of the old Orange Bowl for noise / fan involvement.
