First BMW I ever drove was also the first one I ever owned, a 2014 428i (F32). Traded it in for a "more practical" 2019 Civic Hatchback, which is a great car for what it is, but swore I'd be back in a BMW "someday".
Well, "someday" happened yesterday when I bought my '22 M235i GC XDrive (F44). I'm totally in love.

2006 BMW 330Ci ZHP 6MT. Me and my dad flew to SoCal to pick it up. I bought it even though I was still learning how to drive stick. My dad helped get us out of the city, but once we got into the canyons I was able to let er' rip. Such an amazing drive. Though my dad was holding on for his dear life. lol

A 2022 3 series ( I think it was a 340i) that we did a demo in when my friend was looking at buying one, but was going to have a custom one built. But we went to the dealership and test drove something just so he could feel how it drives. The salesman gave us the best demo ever and did not hold anything back.
Needless to say here it is 3 months later and my truck got totaled so I went and purchased a 550i M Sport |

First BMW I ever drove was an '89 E30 M3 - sadly, test drive only. Missed out on buying one back in 2006 from a guy who was taking pics of it at a park to sell. He was asking $12K at the time... Still one of the most memorable cars I've had the chance to drive.

It was a new E46 M3 with the 6MT in Laguna Seca Blue. A friend's car. Prior to that I didn't have much interest in German cars and was heavily invested in the JDM world. I remember spec'ing one out that night in Phoenix Yellow and contemplating dipping into my tuition funds for a down payment.
Good sense won out the next morning but I was to be Bimmerless for the next 15 years as a result. Still open to owning an E46 at some point in life but my F87 has mostly filled that void in my soul from 15 years ago. Let me tell ya, that first drive off the dealer lot was absolutely magical and the drive out from break in service was pure ecstasy. Been riding that high ever since. My first BMW. |

I bought a 1986 delphine grey metallic E30 back in 1994. It was a blast. I traded the E30 in after just 10 months for a new Volkswagen Golf Mk3.

It was a E46 M3 with SMG. Immediately fell in love with it!

It was in about 1978 when I drove a test drive BMW. Not sure the model but it was a basic 2 door model.
Anyway it was used and I was pretty young. Got it out from some small used car dealer in my town. Anyway I was blown away by how fast I could wale the thing thru a corner. Basically at legal speed I could simply turn it into a corner and it would just happily do it. NO other car I had ever driven did that. No drama....just a nice clean turn. No tire squeal or anything. It just turned and went. I was quite impressed and never forgot it. Such an unassuming little car and it handled better than anything I had ever driven(mostly north American crap) before. Anyway I didn't buy it. Just didn't look cool enough for me. I wanted a sharper looking car so bought a Datsun 260Z. Kept it 30 years. Anyway last year I bought my first BMW an M8 G Comp. I'm a slow learner apparently....lol |
