They've had so much time with this car, and all they did by doing this was to turn people away. Or allow people to wait until future models to see when they get it perfect. Also who trusts that Lotus can deliver the Eletre when they can't complete the engineering on this car. It's not a good look for a company that needed to change people's perception. |

but neither can hold a candle to the aesthetic level of the emira, and I don't think that's anything anyone would even venture to argue about but looks aren't everything, ask me how I know |

The Emira for sure is gorgeous, but I recall some video comparing it to the 718/Cayman and the latter just seems more 'put together'. It looks a bit too wide compared to the Porsche.

Harry Metcalfe finally does a review and test drive of the Lotus Emira - and it's a fine review indeed. "It's the Lotus I've always wanted", says Harry.. Don't know why I'm so taken with the Emira, but it's a stunning looker for sure IMO. One of the finest pieces of automotive design styling I've seen in a long time, but has a two year waiting list.. Still all that being said I'm still wanting a C8 Z06. Worth a watch..

Met a track buddy who I haven't seen in a year or two and he ordered an Emira, he currently owns a 2016 GT4.
What he told us he will basically keep the emira as a last fun car but doesn't expect it to be as fun or good as the GT4 on track.

Not worried about what people say about it, I love it.
One of my favorite tubers got his car. His spec is spot on for my tastes. Beautiful.

I’m having a hard time deciding between Emira and Evora 400/GT. Based on initial impressions from those who drove the Euro spec V6 demo cars in December, it’s a bit softer than the Evora, both in suspension and “edge”, even in sport trim. A few mentioned the noise being slightly quieter even though the engine and exhaust are a direct carrover. The seats have less bolstering than the old Recaro buckets.
I prefer the Evora 400/GT’s racy rear diffuser, although the front and hips on the Emira are simply beautiful. If Lotus announces an S/GT/430 version it would make my decision easier. I just hope the V6 manual combo will still be available at that point. |

Evora has better steering (hydraulic), better instrumentation (all physical gauges), and IMHO nicer styling with its classic Lotus tailights and a jetfighter-like wraparound cabin. But they say the new Emira is a higher-quality and more well-rounded car, which means it is more suitable for daily-driving, as well as long-range cruising. I prefer the curvier front bumper of the earlier models, almost McLaren-esque. A few people say the later Evoras don’t photograph well but look better in person. I haven’t been lucky enough to see one around here in Socal. Speaks to the rarity of these things. |

Drove one of the North American test cars. V6 6MT Sport chassis. Completely and utterly underwhelmed after 30 mins of street driving. The shifter is trash. Throttle tip-in was far too aggressive and there was significant rev hang. It looks fantastic and is the perfect size yet it lacks presence.
Was really excited to drive it but left disappointed. I’ll still get one though. |

Why would you still get one after such an abysmal experience?

They fixed the shifter in the production version of the Emira, according to this Harry Garage video. And probably a few other things too, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions based on early pre-production cars.

Every vehicle they ever have is pre-production quality. They use customers for R&D, and even then take way too long to create lasting fixes. Don't take me wrong, I'm a fan, I just wish they weren't broke all the time.

Late to the thread. New Lotus looks good.
Some interesting mid-lower upper segment two-seaters on the market today with a variety of features/benefits: Z4, MC20, Alpine A110, Abarth 124 Spider, MX-5, Supra, this latest Lotus. Quite the selection to choose from Has anyone on this site taken delivery of this Lotus? Green metallic, not to be confused with BRG, looks OK. BRG doesn't look good on this car. Black, silver or green metallic for me. I wouldn't touch the Mercedes four banger with a ten foot (3 meter) pole, unless the plan was to dump it before warranty expiration. Toyota vs MB engine? There is no uncertainty about this choice. The Toyota GR engine might be the most reliable gasoline engine on the planet for the past 15+ years. Last edited by chassis; 01-02-2023 at 12:08 PM.. |
