What's not to like

. With only 40 units produced, and powered by the 3.7-liter boxer engine that came from the 911 Turbo S, which was upgraded to 750hp by Ruf. and 100 km in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 335 km

From 1962 to 1967 Fiat sold the 1500 convertible. The 1500 was designed and the body was produced by Pininfarina -- the resemblance to the Ferrari 250GT cabriolet is considerable. This is a 1964.

I put this in the LOL thread but I guess looking back through today's view these are pretty cool. They were used by our Summons Bureau whose unofficial motto was "to serve and collect".

In 1957, Lotus founder Colin Chapman introduced the tiny Elite sports coupe. The Elite was unique in having a fiberglass unit body, with a steel subframe for the front suspension/engine, and another for the windshield and door attachments. It was powered by a 1.2 liter SOHC engine of just 75 hp (or slightly more in later editions). The Elite stayed in production until 1963 and slightly over a thousand were built.

The Elite was very light: Just 1700 lbs. Unfortunately, experience proved that it was a bit too light and there were instances of the differential separating from the rear body, for instance. Befitting a Lotus, it was also expensive.

All that notwithstanding, it was rather pretty and handled quite well.
