Down here in Texas the worst we have is coyotes, hogs, or very rarely mountain lions. Whenever I hunt, I carry my Ruger Security Six in .357 Mag in case I run into an angry animal

Do you think coyotes would try to attack? I think they're sneaky little critters. Even though I understand they don't weigh much, their biting force is something else. I can't take a pistol with me - they're restricted around here. Which is why I was thinking about keeping one shell of buckshot in the chamber and the rest birdshot. |

I read about someone killed by coyotes in canada not long ago.
Id carry a service pistol with some leehigh rounds to ensure good penetration if out in the woods . |

Yeah, coyotes may be small, but they can be fierce. I've seen a video of one taking down a fully grown whitetail buck by nipping at its heels for a while until it could finally get the killing neck bite.

An argument can be made for or against an self defense item. If you're going to carry a pen why not have one that is very well made...and just happens to have a pointy end.
Here is one for those who don't know. I have one, it pretty much stays in my truck and is just used as a pen. It the type of item that, if you open it (expose the ball point, and cover the pointy end) you could take it anywhere that weapons are not allowed. Airplanes, court rooms, etc. |

Sometimes they'll attack people if there's more than one of them. Usually they hunt solo but occasionally you'll see them in pairs or triples.
Low on my list of worries though, coyote attacks are rare. I'm more concerned with wild hogs and bears. |

Coyotes are getting to be as much of a problem as pigs around here. If you call Florida Fish and Wildlife to report a coyote they'll just tell you to shoot it if you can do so safely. And hog season never ends here. lol

Picked up few more lights after doing low light shoot last week. Was pretty good learning experience. Lanes dark except for black light on target. Got couple fenix, couple streamlight, a surefire and maratac.

One of my favorites is from 5.11 the TMT L2, big power, but small enough to carry every day. Carrying a flashlight every day seems dumb, until you do it. I use the thing all the time, looking in and around equipment at work, looking for kids shoes in closets etc. |
