It's worse when it's something google can't help you with....

Edit - It's a good thing though. The stupid shit we did is only remembered by the few that were there. Today, it's on the net forever.

I was sitting with my daughter this weekend and we were watching a movie. Her and I love to pause the movie and talk about it. We were talking about the actors in the movie; talking about other movies they were in, different stats about the actors, all kinds of different things relative to the movie. I can't believe how many times we went to google on our phones to look something up. It's helpful, but at the same time, I hate it.

Yeah, "helpful" on those occasions, but it also makes us lazy. I try not to use it unless really necessary. I think I feel threatened by it because I'm getting older and don't want to depend on it.

And the parts store stocked 3 different headlights. 1 large round hi/low beam, 1 small hi beam and 1 small low beam and that covered all of the cars on the road.

You know you're old when your memory is in your ass. You just had a thought in your mind, but walking around for no amount of time will make you remember....until you sit down.

...when you remember how popular soap operas were!
My mother used to threaten us with the pancake turner if we were noisy during her 'story'.

Classics include:
-"As the Stomach Turns"
-"Are They All My Children?"
-"The Edge of Wetness"
-"Dark Shadows"
and my favorite:
-"Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman!"

Then there were the classic radio mystery shows such as:

The Shadow
Inner Sanctum
Dragnet
Perry Mason

I well remember listening to The Shadow while dad drove our '49 Ford down some lonesome highway, late at night (late for a kid). The sounds effects were amazing: squeaking brakes; closing doors, etc. And the car radio itself made it's own unique noises, including the vibrator. Heh!

One of my favorites I listed to in my undergraduate program at School of Mines was E.G. Marshall's CBS Radio Mystery Theater. It came on locally at 10:00pm and I would turn out all the lights and listen to each episode.

When your phone rings after 9:00 p.m. and you verbally state, "Who the hell is calling me this late?"

As someone who has to TiVo the 6:30 PM TV news in his old age, I fixed that for you.....

I'm retired. I stay up late and sleep late. 1am to 9am is my norm.

PS - sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and go online or watch a bit of TV.

Wifey is worried this will be me when I retire at the end of this month. Gonna try to avoid slipping into that. Probably still get up at my normal 7AM, even though I'd rather it be my "natural" wake up time of 8AM. The extra hour in bed would really mess with her getting ready for work, though.

Wife gets up at 4am and goes to bed at 9pm. Been married almost 46 years, we each have our own schedule. I think hers is a little more typical for an older person. She's always been like that though.
