Apple Watch Space Grey right now. I was wearing a Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean ref. 2918.50.38 daily but ended up swapping out the orange band with the stainless steel. Still my all time favorite watch.

I wonder if anyone else finds that when they wear their nicest watch they invariably aren't driving, and so it and their BMW never are seen together?
That didn't occur to me until today when noticed this thread got a new post and I thought of a recent event when I donned an Altiplano and didn't drive any of my cars. All the best.

Rocking these two these days. 42MM Apple Sport and Tag Multi-Display Stainless but I graduated from my 3 series...currently rocking the X4 35i M-Sport in Carbon Black.

Interesting thread I guess my true Vanity is a BMW, my philosophy if it looks good, I wear it! Diesel, Fossil, Invicta and Citizen so far. Been drooling on a certain Oris and Breitllng can't get myself to fork out those $$$$

it's interesting to see how a large proportion of a first luxury watch purchase is a dive watch (ie. rolex, ball), or something with a very technical complication (ie. breitlings or omegas)
i got into the watch game late. my daily drivers are a Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro and just a recently acquired Stowa Marine Automatic. i don't have pics at the moment, but i love the stowa, it is so simple clean and classic, and german watches go well with german cars i prefer a watch with a simple/understated face (even my Hamilton with a chrono is a bit busy for me). also something a bit off the beaten path - ie. not a mass-market watch. my dream (once the MBA loans are paid off) is a JLC or a Vacheron Constantin

Have taken 2 days to go through this thread, like watches not into a specific brand but how it looks and says a statement, these so far are my favorites.

The same kind I sport when doing anything else. One of two Victorinox Ambassadors.
I don't sail, scuba dive, fly planes, or race cars, and in the age of the smartphone, I don't need anything ultra-accurate. What I want from a watch is the time and date at the briefest of glances. Anything that gets in the way of that, I don't want. That eliminates chronographs, moon phases, GMT, see-through or highly decorative dials, etc.; they make the watch busier and harder to read at a glance. I also want the fewest buttons/crowns possible. I want a plain face, Arabic numerals, a date, a leather or rubber band, and a sapphire crystal. Maybe one of these days I'll get an ultra-thin, premium watch that fits that description (recommendations welcome), but I've really got no complaints about the watches I have now. |
