Latest addition to the stash... I must admit, out of the plethora of fine Rums I have tried, this one is the nicest overall: nose, palate, smooth, finish. It is absolutely outstanding!

My haul from today's trip to the superstore.
Now I need to decide which one to open first.

I'll have to give neat rum a shot (forgive the pun) one of these days.

Took your advice. Not bad at all. I can see why you like it. Not as sweet as the Aberlour, but not smoky either.

I've only had rum in sweet drinks like pińa coladas and so on. I can't stomach more than one or two of them. Is it sweet by itself?

No definitely not. The flavor profile and ingredients make it sweeter than say whiskey but it's definitely not sugary. The typical flavors on the palate of good sipping rums: vanilla, caramel, toasted nuts. If you're ever in the local area, give me a shout and you can sample some of my stash. But everyone who enjoys spirits and keeps a stash on hand should have at least one bottle of fine rum. Generally in the $40-$60 range.

I looked last night, and after doing my darnedest to get the empty bottles for my niece to do her artsy-crafty thing, I am down to a bottle of Jack and a bottle of Madera. Was going to make a trip to the shop, but ended up dropping a wad of cash over the weekend for son's baseball and wife's makeup/shoes. Luckily Jack in a big boy 1.75l so I should make it to next payday.
Going to have to take a look at some Rum, and find some more Aberlour. Need to find a fine sake as well. |

Thanks. Noted and recorded. I'll look for them when I hit the superstore this coming Friday.

Man, this Jack Single Barrel is growing on me. Could become a regular buy.

I've tried high and low and yet find nothing that I enjoy more than Single Barrel Jack, there are a number of varieties from time to time offered and they're all great. One of my Favs is Single Barrel Silver Select, its 100 proof but not avail for sale retail in the US for some reason. You can find it at duty free if you can imagine, so when Im traveling back from Europe I'll stock up, and ask friends to bring me back a bottle when they are traveling, its really smooth too. Some call me stubborn or look down on JD as a fine spirit, but its my choice and not likely to ever change....enjoy

Saturday night I had a bit of a sore throat, and we were going to see Zootopia, so BIL and I moseyed over to the local watering hole while the crew waited in line. They had Tennessee Honey, I had a sore throat, it seemed like a perfect match. We both got doubles on the rocks.
I really had to struggle to get that down, then come to find out its only like 70 proof. Well, that was $15 wasted, and I just fell asleep in the movie after about 30 minutes. |
