Bummer on the dead card. Usually Saphire makes pretty reliable cards. I have the Diamond version of the 4850 and I'm really happy with it.
I've read a lot of people complaining about the multiplayer setup on MW2 for PC. Might be the time to make the switch and learn those controllers. I used to be FPS only on the PC for years and finally got the hang of console controllers back when Halo came out. It sucked for a few days but now I'm as deadly with controller as I am with keyboard and mouse. I do feel kinda bummed that my nice gaming PC is mostly used for a media server and to surf the web now. Sort of a waste of all that power. |

I went from an 8800GT to a 250GTS, definately handled my games better but it's about $130 for a 1GB.

I'm running a 8800GT right now. It works fine at medium-high settings. How good is your cpu?

get the 1GB, you wont regret it
I upgraded from a 260GTX to a 295GTX I can vouch for XFX being good ones.. never heard of "Galaxy" GTX is a much better choice and the 260GTXs are pretty cheap and VERY powerful RAM will affect your framerate too, if you have a 64bit system, then jam pack as much RAM as you can

My GPU just crapped out on me too. Luckily, it was SLI dual GPU's, so I took out the bad one, and now I'm just running on one GPU. However, some of my higher end games won't run at "Highest" very smoothly anymore.
It's time for an upgrade, and I'm thinking a rather large overhaul. I'm going to upgrade to an i7 1366 capable board, an i7 CPU, DDR3 RAM, and a DDR3 or DDR4 GPU (SLI bridging a 2nd one when needed). My GF's desktop will inherit my old hardware. On another note, anyone know where/who to contact in order to recycle my old GPU? I don't want it to just end up in a landfill.
