My New Tripod!
This thing is awesome... I can't believe how solid it is compared to my cheap ass tripod from best buy. I don't know how I ever took pics without it.

Yeah, about that... It was spendy, but I think it was worth the money. Lifetime warranty and solid construction = fun new toy

I can't recommend anyting for less, because they all felt cheap to me, or heavy. I would look at used stuff on ebay. I tried that, but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. What the pic doesn't show is that the entire head (Except Pan) is controlled by one knob. I was so sick of the wobbly plasticky four knob one I had before that I kinda went overboard with this one. It's rock solid though

Cool. I just ditched my battery grip cuz my Manfrotto is having some trouble locking up with the grip + heavy ass 16-35 2.8L or 70-200 f4L IS. Add a speedlight on top of that and the thing just points straight down.

Yeah, I had that too with some of the other brands. I like the battery grip for offsetting the weight of the lenses and the Gitzo is good up to something like 14 lbs. Or on my cheapo tripod, the thing would oscilate so bad you'd think I had discovered perpetual motion.

For sure man- if possible I think everyone should spring for a well built tripod so they don't have to waste money on other ones down the road. I, however, don't have/want to spend so much on a tripod (rarely use one) so I'm still using my $50 Velbon tripod. lol
