The WTCC resumes in Oschersleben after a six-week summer break. The German event opens the final part of the season and it will be followed by the last European meeting (Imola, 20th September) and the long leap to the Far East (Okayama, 1st November and Macau, 22nd November). The championship looks set for a grand finale, landing in Oschersleben with a strong 27-car field. With 8 races to go, the fight for the world titles is wide open.

Tarquini grabs pole

A downpour less than five minutes into Q1 meant that the 10 places in the all-important Q2 session were effectively decided in the first two flying laps. Tarquini set the best time on his second flying lap and eased through, along with works SEAT team-mate Rickard Rydell.

Three BMW fastest in the morning warm up

Andy PRIAULX GBR BMW 320si Time:1:36.577

Robert Huff and Kristian Poulsen were given a 10-position grid penalty for Race 1. Huff was penalised because he applied for an engine change on his Chevrolet Cruze after this morning’s warm up. He will be demoted from 6th to 16th on the grid. Poulsen – who had qualified 23rd – breached the yellow flag rules three times during yesterday’s practice sessions and was also given a 1500 euro fine.

Priaulx wins race 1

Andy Priaulx charged to his first victory of the season from 14th on the grid in today's first World Touring Car race at Oschersleben.
Predictably, there was an incident at the tight first chicane as the field tried to funnel through the narrow left-right. Alex Zanardi's BMW was spun around and then hit by Augusto Farfus. Priaulx, though, managed to avoid the trouble and came out of the first lap in fourth place. He then picked off the SEATs of Tom Coronel and Rickard Rydellbefore passing pole-sitter Gabriele Tarquini for the lead.

Farfus leads BMW 1-2 in Germany

Augusto Farfus led home a BMW 1-2 in today's second World Touring Car race at Oschersleben.
Farfus is now 2 points from the lead. He was all set to take the championship lead from Gabriele Tarquini, until a drive-through penalty for D'Aste and a broken BMW for Engstler cleared the way for Tarquini to move up to third.
