Are you sure that you didn't post the same link four times? I don't see a difference.

I was debating about the same camera.

There is actually a deal at Costco for an extra telefoto lens, case and 4gb memory card for $1000.

I am also thinking of this camera

There was a debate on dpreview that said that the Nikon took better overall pics, but the Canon had better HD recording.

I think I may go with the Nikon at Costco, since this is my first DSLR purchase I like the idea of a return policy, just in case.

I'd go for still image performance over video performance, unless video is your goal. Look at the test images on DPReview and compare for yourself. Both are fine cameras. You can't go far wrong.

Yeah your right, the logical choice is the Nikon, but I'm bit of a brand whore and my dad has always had Canon products since the 60s. Also I'm a sucker for gimmicks ie HD recording. But I'll probably get a dedicated camera for that later on.

Go hold them but I just bought a nikon D90 as my first dslr and love it, easy to hold, shoot, and amazing performance (comparable to a d300 as they have the same sensor, but half the price). That's my recommendation
