Garmin 101 help needed...

I just registered my new garmin nuvi 765t online and it gave me this unlock code. So I went into garmin FAQ area and it does not explain why I need this code or under what circumstance would I need to use this unlock code so I tried calling the 800 number and the machine said Garmin is closed for the holiday (lol).

So would someone kindly explain to me why I have this unlock code for my garmin and do I need to do anything in the mean time?

i think that garmin can be locked ... like a cell phone. basically once its locked, you cant unlock it without the unlock code. probably a theft deterrent.

It is a theft thing. If you use the lock feature and it is stolen it can not be used. If you forget your code you can simply bring it to the "home" location that you program into it and it will unlock. (At least that is what I remember from the owners manual that I read two or three years ago....perhaps you should read yours....)
