Yes, but a matte-finish? No one is going to go for that imo. Even if it does work I bet there will still be care involved. Nissan is working on a paint that regenerates scratches, now that's interesting.

The article references the Z4 Coupe Concept in the matte silver - that was stunning. It wouldn't work for all colors/cars, but it could look damn good on the right ones.

The colors Lexus traditionally comes out with allow you to do things like this and never really notice any problems. That being said, I think the cars look quite dull from a color point of view. My mother has a Lexus ES in a goldish metalic color. Gets it detailed once per year and then runs it through the car wash in the winter and has my father wash it in the summer. It looks good still (it's about 6+ years old now), but put it next to my mystic blue car with 5 coats of zaino on it and there is absolutely no comparison My father even made the same comment when I drove down over Christmas.

BMW paint qual
I've had two Bimmers- a 99 540i in Jet Blk and a TiAg 02' M3 cpe. Generally
speaking the finish is slightly inferior to other makes, BUT nobody else has such a wide variety of awesome colors. Their grays and blues like sparkling graphite and interlagos blue nobody else does. Try finding a carbon black or imola red somewhere else. Forget it, only BMW has it. So........... One has to take a little more care of a bimmer but the choice of palettes is way better IMO. |
