The Transporter
What do you guys think of the movie? Especially the first car chase after the robbery. Its a little unbelievable, but great. And the handling of the BMW :-) Awesome !!!

I can't remember why, but when I watched it I had to stop about half way through. Then watched the second half the next night.
1st half was absolutely awesome! Cool storyline. Clever directing. And man-o-man that opening car chase! As I described it to a friend, "if you never thought you wanted a BMW before, you'll forever change your mind after seeing this movie!" After loving the first half I couldn't wait to see the second. But it was like two totally different movies. I had to check to see it was the same film. Overnight this way-too-cool movie morphed into a hokie kung-fu turkey. I take that back - at least most kung-fu movies have out-of-sync translations to make them entertaining. Perhaps the whole thing just fell apart once they blew the car up. |

That was great, i liked the password and numberplate replacing system. Chasing was also super. I watched some other movies that Bmw made which are about 6-10 min-videos. They can be downloaded from http://www.bmwfilms.com/ I really recommend them!

Apparently in the TRANSPORTER 2 the the main character will be driving an Audi, I think an S4. Some people on the Audi forums saw Jason Stratham (I think I spelled it right) driving around LA in an S4, and someone asked him about the sequel and he said that he drives an Audi in it. I almost bought an S4 so I thought that was kinda cool, but not so cool now that I have a BMW!
Anyway, one thing that always puzzled me about the Transporter was that he had a 735. Why not give him a tricked out 750 or something with the big V12? It would have made the performance a little more believable. |

Because then it makes the things he does with the car even more impressive. It means it was a special driver who could do it with a 735.

The only problems I have with the movie is that the car should of been an M5 or a 750 instead of a 735
and the movie was pretty stupid. BUT OTHER THAN THAT THE MOVIE is GREAT. The Action scenes and car chase sequences are top notch and Jason Statham is a pure Bad Ass. I love the style of the FILM. I could watch the first half hour over and over again. |

I think the point of it being a 735 was that there were lots of them registered in the area - thus his particular one didn't stand out from the crowd. If it'd been an M5/745/750, there would be less of them in the area, making it easier for the copper to track him down!
Maybe he should've had an 750 with 735 badges - but that'd open another can of worms just like the re-badging thread elsewhere on here! |

bmw car chase/whatever scenes in movies are always the best
although the audi one in ronin is pretty good too. that may be the inspiration for the a8 in transporter 2. it was an s8 in ronin though. |

Well said prolix, well said. I totally forgot about Ronin, the other great movie with great car scenes.
That being said, I've always thought the BMW 8 Series looks divine, although quite old now. (Never driven it though)

Just saw and 850 on the road the other day. They were great cars but they never sold very well. Was a real sales dog for BMW. You can pick one up used for very little money, but the repair costs are extremely high on them. Kind of like a 760 in that respect. Cheap to buy, expensive to own.
You gotta love the V-12 in the 760 though! I got to drive one all day a few years ago, and what a blast. The new 760's V-12 will feature direct gasoline injection, which is basically like Audi's "FSI" technology. http://www.ssip.net/760li.php http://www.audi.co.uk/acs/ownershipb...s.jsp?id=11614 FSI is one of the technologies that makes the Audi R8 race car so dominant. |
