Try after 38.5 years with the same employer, after being tendered a buy-out offer that I was told I shouldn't refuse. Seriously, my last resume is on 8-inch floppy and was printed on thermal dot-matrix paper.....

Our company is small in terms of where I can grow. Almost no options. There are some things going on behind the scenes that I'm just not comfortable with as well. I also found myself getting excited at possibilities of something else. I could actually roll this on the side too if I needed to. I have complete autonomy and so much can be done now from phone or computer. |

So I start poking around and it was difficult, not just the job hunt but let's say I am offered a new position for $30K more per year, sounds good yeah? But let's be pragmatic about it;
SO add that all up and my 30K vanishes quite quickly and I also lose my tenure and severance security of about 18 months pay. It's not as simple as it first seems. |
