Thinking about selling my toys for something else...
Kicking around the idea of selling my Hellcat & the Miata and picking up something else. Would love a V10 R8, but that market is still lol no thanks at those prices. Don't want to pay $80K+ for a 2011 model.
It would have to be something that really gets me excited. A properly done LS swapped 66 or 67 Chevelle would be a contender. Not sure what else. I have also been thinking of selling just the Miata and getting a 2006+ Elise or Exige, but that market is still lol high too. Any thoughts or suggestions? If I sold both, it would have to be for something I REALLY want. Not really sure what else that's not stupid $ that would keep me happy...

What would your budget be for a new toy? That would help narrow down the list of potential options.

Car prices are insane, there's basically nothing sub $100k I'd have any interest in owning right now. Nothing is worth the price.
Keep the cars, hope for some type of correction in the market 5-10 years from now. |

Totally different approach, buy a 2 stroke go kart if you have any tracks nearby? A lot of fun to be had with a shifter kart that can do 80 to 100mph (or more) while sitting an inch from the ground.

My vote under $100k is a 997 or 991 GTS. Maybe a Turbo S if you’re a turbo kind of guy |

I'm in a similar boat. I have my dream spec Corvette that sits unused because it has no backseat and I have two kids now, then my track Corvette that sits because I have no time to race. I also have my daily X5 and my backup daily TBSS.
I've often considered replacing the vettes and X5 with something that's fun with a backseat. 911 prices are nuts so you're either getting an older/slower one or maybe you!stumble into a low priced 991.2, but those are rare. ct5 Blackwing is an option, but they're also expensive, and frankly you can get a nice F90 M5 for the same money (no manual in those though). Buying people's swapped cars is always risky IMO. You never know if it was done well in a dude's garage, poorly at a closed down shop, or really badly in a driveway. What excites you? Would a Viper do it? What about a C6 ZR1? What about something totally different, like a ram srt10? Are you just looking for something to take to car shows and ogle, or would you drive it often? |

The market is not gong to change for those rarish cars you listed, it is what it is.
From the cars you listed i'd be keen on an Exige as a proper excitement machine. Other option is a latter year GT350, hell of an engine. |

What is it that's missing from the Miata and Hellcat combo that you really want? If you've got a $100K, there are a ton of options.
I was dead set on a C5 Z06 as my fun car and looked for about 1.5 years but just couldn't quite get myself to pull the trigger. When I got honest with myself, I realized that I always wanted a Porsche but wasn't willing to spend $50K+ on my fun car at the time and I wanted a Porsche I could work on myself, was considered generally reliable, parts readily available, was fun as hell to hustle, but could take on a road trip, made the right sounds, etc. I honed in on a 987.2 Cayman Base 6MT even though I really never considered it up until switching gears. I figured if the experience was good, then maybe I'd move up to a "better" and faster Porsche like a 911 or Cayman GTS in a few years. 2 years later, I not ever selling my Cayman. It ain't fast, but damn is it fun and every time I drive it, it's an experience, and I drive it almost daily. I still love C5 Z06s too, but I also want some level of quality and refinement. Owning my M235 for 9 years has really changed my perception of what I want and expect in a car.
