Oh fuck, this looks a lot like the X3 spy photos. I hope it won't be as ugly in and out...

So far, I'm not a fan of the Neue Klasse interpretation on BMW's SAVs. This is one of the reasons we ordered a 2025 X5 xDrive 40i to replace the ever-lasting 2015 X5 xDrive 35d we had. Because after seeing the X3 in photos and then in person, I could see things were not changing for the better IMHO. Besides the overall shape, I'm really disappointed about the rear door intersection at the rear fender, as seen also on this X5 spy photo. I know, many manufacturers are doing this; Audi, Range Rover, Porsche, and others, but it still looks cheap to me, which it is cheaper to build without a section of body to intersect the rear door edge and protect it from the elements. No, the 2025 GO5 is about as far from the prior BMW design language as I care to go for now. And while I am finding the screen easy to navigate with iDrive 8.5, I do still miss the physical HVAC buttons, which is another cost savings move, and less of a positive direction in design, IMHO.

Some signs are pointing to buttons returning. Let’s just hope the new x5 wasn’t too far down the design path before the winds started to turn on this whole iPad on wheels bullshit.
