Another reason to Uber to restaurants
My wife picked a new restaurant she wanted to go to. We pull up and it's valet only. I reluctantly handed the keys over. Now a month later I'm washing the car and found my side skirt has been damaged. The only way I can imagine this happened was at the valet. So budgeting Ubers to new restaurants from now on.

Really sucks and if you don't see it when you get the vehicle back you are most likely out of luck.
Virtually every place I have ever been to that had valet also had other options with a short walk.

That sucks. I will not valet my car. If there isn't a self parking option close by, I have given the valet a tip to park my car myself and keep my keys.

Dang, that sucks. I used valet once with my car and I lectured the guy on how to ensure the car is in reverse vs 1st gear (manual trans). And admittedly, most of the time at dinner I was nervous about how they would handle the car.

Valet is yet another of those cultural things I will never understand and also loathe, like tipping for example. I can park my fucking car, a valet is nothing but fucking hassle, it takes longer than doing it yourself.

I do too, but had to when we stayed at the Ritz in New Orleans. I let the dude know right away I knew every dent (none) and flaw (none, other than a few stone chips on the front bumper) and would go over the car with a fine-toothed comb when I picked it up. I also deposited my laptop in the trunk when we went out for the day. They did just fine with nary a mar, even though the car was pretty dirty from the rain.

Does seem odd it took you a month to see it and then know for sure it was the valet.

One of my first jobs was at this place that had a messed up parking situation. Basically there wasn’t enough parking so you had to park behind people basically blocking them in. So all day they would call people up to stop what they were doing to move their car so someone could get out. Anyways they eventually hired a valet service to deal with it. Fortunately not many valets around here, especially not mandatory ones. |

Every time that I've tried to valet my cars, they take one look at the millennial anti-theft device and clutch pedal and ask me to just park it at the first curb space myself.....

Imagine being unaware of damage to your car for a month but so quick to blame someone else for it. That looks to be the drivers side too, how did you not see that for so long? Nah, wasn't the valet.

I'm surprised I didn't notice it myself but had not washed the car by hand in over a month. Other than that I don't recall any strikes that would have left that kind of damage.
Since I'm the only one that drives it the last time the car was out of my custody was when the valet had it. But it is a ten year old daily so it's got some dings and scratches. I just wish this one had been self inflicted.
