Had to snap a pic of this yesterday. As I mentioned in a previous post. It’s bad enough BMW slaps an M badge on models as a marking campaign, worse (in my opinion) when patrons do it themselves.

Buy it, don’t badge it!

I dont even know why people just add more badges, I always try to take them all or change to black ones to give a more stealth look

there was this silver Mercedes C43 AMG in Great Falls. It was obviously a fake.(C320 with AMG bodykit) But I guess the guy could get a pass because he had low number diplomatic license plates.(presumably with full immunity against everything)

Nah, no way. Australia as a ridiculous 'luxury car tax' such that any price over certain price makes the car stupidly expensive. The majority of newbie drivers in BMWs etc are hand-me-downs or parent's vehicle. This young buck probably thought their 3-series coupe is the fastest BMW ever so "hey this should also be an ///M". They will learn soon enough.

Sorry, but when it comes to BMW, they themselves are the one that put M badges on cars that shouldn't have them.

Heck, my 230i with the M-Sport package is every bit as deserving (or undeserving) to have them as the M240, M340 or heaven forbid the abomination that is the M235 Gran Coupe!

In fact mine came from the factory with an M badge in seven different locations. So they may have well just call it an M230i

No fake badges (yet) but this seller wins the prestigious award for "Most Clapped Out And Ruined F30"! I can't look at the bodykit without laughing.

Of course there are clowns in every place, that’s what makes this such a fun thread. We can all find examples locally to share.

Ok so this a real C63 AMG but this owner definitely wants people to know it is an AMG. What makes the badge more offensive is the side skirts which had some horrid eBay “AMG” decals. No photos of that as I could not be bothered getting out of my car. Thoughts on this type of badging? Yay or nay? My personal view is fake as it was not factory installed nor is it a factory option, and in any case looks like s**t as badge is way too large for that grille.

The manufacturer adds to this issue, just like Mercedes slapping AMG stickers on all their cars, BMW does it as well. It's all part of a marketing scheme to sell more cars, to those that don't want to spend the money for the real thing.
So, if you can't afford a true M car or AMG, you can still have ///M or ///AMG parts on it. But as an owner we can spot a fake in a heartbeat. They say imitation is the fondest form of flattery.
And what makes it worse, is that these idiots put the badges in the wrong spots. It irks the hell out of me to see it.

BMW is a business, and to that end they will do what they think makes the most business sense (and apparently ///M badges make money). The next time you're making more money at your business than BMW is at theirs, you let me know

As for us enthusiasts, we want ///M to MEAN something and have a MINIMUM of performance before it's used, but we don't own the business.
