When it came time for the town's electrical inspector to approve his work, the guy was FLOORED at how every single wire in the electrical panel was fanned out and bent exactly 90 degrees like a protractor was used. The inspector asked for permission to bring every licensed electrician in the town to come see this panel as he signed off on it, as an example of how to do things.

Fast forward two decades, and my father-in-law who was a retired master electrician was over at my parent's house for a visit. I grabbed a screwdriver, and told him that he had to come into the basement with me to check out my old man's legacy. We took the cover off of the panel, and were both SHOCKED to see that some idiot who installed the central AC system after my father's passing had just willy-nilly knocked out any old punchout and slopped wire onto a breaker. It was like someone assaulted the Mona Lisa with spray paint!!!!!
Yes! Proper wire management!

A few years before I retired from our local university, our department hired
a private contractor to help us convert general purpose classrooms to
modern smart rooms. Their work was shoddy, to say the least. My boss
appointed me as the inspector. I wired a lab, then my boss grabbed the
private contractor by the ear and showed him the example. Heads rolled
and the contractor finally started to do good work. And I must admit that
I really enjoyed being an inspector. By the time I retired a year later, the
contractor was saluting me.

There is no substitute for quality workmanship. We are in the middle of a major reno. All the mechanicals are being replaced and our GC has hired great trades. The gas manifold they put in the basement is brilliant, simple but brilliant. Same goes for the plumbing and electrical.

If you're going to talk about being excessively detailed doing something, put the damn letters in the order that they're supposed to be in-- CDO!!

And for the record? My father's second career was as a Construction Superintendent for high-end Custom homes.

EVERY switch plate in a house he built had the screws lined up exactly vertical before he left the site for the last day.

And, mid are as well.
