I've heard it said that Flea plays a bass like other people play guitar. Quite the compliment.

I have always been fascinated by this lyric from Californication. It says so much in so few words:

"Space may be the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollywood basement
And Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing songs off Station To Station?
And Alderaan's not far away, it's Californication"

A reference to Star Trek.
A reference to Nirvana, Foo fighters (spheres) and Bowie (Station To Station)
And a reference to Star Wars.

The "Spheres" were known to cover Bowie music early in their formation. Of course, "Foo Fighters" were glowing spheres of light seem by WWII pilots and often reported as 'UFOs".

I've heard that said about Lemmy and a few others as well.
