I've been using a Husqvarna 324L for the last several years. 4-cycle so no oil/fuel mix. Been pretty happy with it although it isn't the most consistent starter lately. It eats through everything I've thrown at it, though.

I picked some Swiss Chard and beets. I never grew beets before, so I don't really know when they are ready. I'll pick one every week and experiment. Boiled, peeled and pickled.

Alvin, Simon and Theodore, my three pumpkins, are flowering nicely and getting a good soak. I have to keep an eye on the trailers as they will take over.

The state of my pumpkins.
Alvin was the first one to produce a fruit, now the size of a baseball. Simon has a lot of flowers on the vigne but nothing yet. Finally, Theodore has a little one that will need nurturing. |

I picked-up a few Romas that the wind blew off the vine. I will let them ripen on the windowsill. I'm going to get a good harvest again this year. The green ones will go into my chow-chow.

My Canna Lilies are starting to bloom. Considering that they are a zone 8 tropical plants. All the preps during the winter paid off. They'll hibernate in the house again this year.

Had our backyard somewhat leveled and graded about 3 months ago. We had a two tier look to our back yard that was separated by these massive rail road ties the previous owner put in.
Had a company come in and remove the ties and to grade / level the back yard so its more flowing and not so much of a hill. They did an okay job to be honest. Nothing really changed. For the price, I thought it would have been a more drastic difference. Wasn't the case. Anyways, they laid down this mesh stuff, grass seed and straw. My grass was green and healthy before they did all of this and now it's just burnt and very patchy. Pretty upsetting to be honest. I have watered like crazy to keep the soil moist but I am almost to the point where I am like, fuck it and don't worry about it until next month and by then I will heavy seed and fertilizer the whole yard. Very upsetting. I didn't think we needed to do it to be honest, but the wife was very persistent in doing it. I guess we will see how the fall goes and what it looks like in the spring. Looks like a complete patchy mess.

I decided to turn over lawn weed and pest control + fertilizing + perimeter pest control + tree and ornamental pest control and fertilizing to a company. I figured out I was spending just as much on materials as they will charge plus needed to do all the work - and I was losing the battle. I’ll give them until late spring to see how it goes. If they don’t improve stuff, I’ll take it back so I can control it. $175 every other month.

We used a service to get it under control the first year but then I took over. It's not perfect (mainly in the landscape beds) but I can control was gets put down and when. Ordering concentrates also helps keep the cost down for me.
