No, they are not overpriced, the price of the cars today is adjusted to the current market including inflation, if you can't afford a new car don't buy one. If your salary is still the same as of today vs 4 years ago pre covid then you just need a new job. People are getting paid shit load of money these days and still complain about things being too expensive. If you can't adjust to inflation by get a new job or asking for a raise that match current state of inflation that's your problem. My position started 65k base salary 5 years ago and now that job base salary is 80k, I left for another job for 30% raise to match the inflation because they can't pay their employee properly.

I don't buy new cars because I change cars out every couple years, and I like to mod the car so I buy used. I almost bought the brand new Elantra N my local dealer had few years ago, I didn't make the deal when the car landed from the truck and it was gone the day after so I went got the M4. For 28k it was way better than a normal WRX/Civics/GOLF and it gives you STI/TYPE R/GOLF R fun. I also don't drive and don't need SUV so 5 N isn't for me. This car is to complete with Model Y performance, Mach E GT and other performance EV SUV. You are getting a lot of cars for 70k(after tax incentives and discounts you probably looking at 65 OTD). Once again they presented a package that outperform every other car in its category and priced it right there with those. 70k is basically Genesis GV60 price, so if they put a Genesis badge on this it would worth 70k? That's such a shitty statement to make.

I don't know anything about the CX-5 but the GV70 100% has fake engine noise that CAN be turned off because I did it. Now I test drove the mid trim with the 4 cylinder. Maybe the 6 cylinder is different, but the one I drove most definitely had the fake noise and could be turned off.

Like I said I didn't even think it sounded fake. I just though this sounds too good for a 4 cylinder SUV I wonder if it's fake. Then I started digging through the menus and found the settings for it.

If you can't afford something just say you are poor, don't bash on it's brand for pricing it according to the market. You drive a boat and a clown car, I can understand.

Idk where you get that number from but ok? What does that even mean? What does that have to do with anything? $400 what? Per car? Per month? Per how many month? You can't even finish your thoughts and you are here saying do better, do better what?

Edit: Dodge sells cars well over 80-90k, so what's wrong with a Hyundai with 600 HP selling for 70k? It will smoke every dodge it sees, idk why a badge is such a big deal. A scat pact wide body is 70k but it only has 485 hp, so idk what's wrong with the price here? It still gets gapped by every B58 on the road with less hp, stage 2 eats hellcats for lunch.

Apparently it's 726 dollars a month for new cars, 550 a month for used cars. Insane

its just the price of new cars.

new EV average cost is $55k w/ tax incentives. This being ~$15k more before any incentives isnt too crazy. Top trim Ioniq 5 w/ AWD is pushing 60k. But as is the case with most Hyundais, you get a lot of features that you dont usually see at the price point with their competitors

average cost of any new car is almost $50k.

Performance oriented cars being 60-70k+ is nothing out of the ordinary now a days.

Yes, it's the cost. That doesn't mean it is good or how it should be. No wonder everyone is in debt. COL is impossible to keep up with anymore for most Americans.

My wife's 1997 Z3 Roadster 1.9L MSRP was $29,425, which is $57,580 in 2024 dollars. My 2008 Z4 Coupe 3.0si MSRP was $40,700, which is $59,370 in 2024 dollars. The 2024 Z4 sDrive30i MSRP is $53,600. I'd say BMW has kept it's Z-series pricing in check. Considering the advancements in tech over the last 25+ years, the newest Z's are a pretty good deal.

sure a bare bones base model with 250hp and missing features that you find in a civic is $55k, but once you start adding minor things, like a heated steering wheel ffs, you creep in to the 60ks.

An Ioniq 5 is only 41k for the bare bones base model, so I dont really get your point of comparing a fully loaded top trim vehicle vs a bare bones base model

its a decent price for today's vehicle costs. But yes, compared to 5 years ago, not a good price.

And if you think the price of cars is too much, dont even look at trucks. half ton, not even fully loaded trucks creeping in to the 90s, and mid tier optioned half ton trucks costing $70-80k.

Relax. I was comparing the MSRP of the E37 Z3 Roadster, to the Z4 E86 Coupe (which was priced higher than the E85 Z4 Roadster) to the MSRP of the current G29 Z4. It shows the MSRP of each vehicle, which are all sports cars of the same classification, has remained relatively flat over the past 27 years when inflation is factored in as constant dollars. So, FFS, it shows that BMW has not increased the price of their Z3/Z4 model sports car over the past 27 years. I used the MSRP of the base cars as a standardized configuration. Trying to show a deviation of pricing beyond simple inflation forces would be pointless since option packages have varied in content over the past 27 years.

The information indicates the G29 is actually less expensive than the E85/86 Z4. FFS.

Not for Bicyclists

I drive a manual E90 M3 and bought the I5N for everyday use. I agree 100% with the review.

Unfortuately, I'm a bicyclist and depend on my rear hitch 1UP rack that only extends 4" and allows rear door opening on my SUV. With the I5N and probably any similar cars with early collision automatic emergency braking, the car sense the bike rack when in reverse and slams on the brake. You can turn it off but it returns with restarting the car. Ther should be a tow mode but Hyundai won't change that. Fortunately, I work around for me is to always keep the rack down and pushed in all the way. The sensors just misses the empty rack.

I am including everything not just a car.

Nothing today is a "decent price" unless you're rich

In case anyone was curious if Kia would follow their partner, the Kia EV6 GT will get the same simulated shifter later this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see it in the EV //M cars next year.

Poor minded people just keep complaining, while the rich ones no matter how much you make you can afford what you need/want. Nothing is too expensive to own and nothing is cheap. You can make a mil a year and still being poor, or you can make minimum wedge and still live rich if you want to. Y'all just sitting home waiting for your government to feed you, complaining about things and keep being poor. Complaining about car price like it should stay the same forever. If car price never go up any minimum wedge person today can afford a luxury car and anyone out of college today can afford a 911.

I am certain that a similar discussion ensued when cars began to replace horses. This is a mere beginning of what is to come. Talking performance and depreciation in the same paragraph is to utterly miss the point.

I don't think it will be all that long before it is common to attain a 300 mile range in under 10 minutes with an 80% charge. Some Hyundais already do it in under 20 minutes. Charging at home negates that argument anyhow for those with a second ICE vehicle for road trips.

I don't own an EV, but I welcome the competition that improves them. 12 years ago the Nissan Leaf had an 87 mile range and was tiny. This is where we are at now. Where will EVs be in another 12 years, now that all the automakers are in the game?
